1.1. What I Cherished The Most Turned To Be A Ball And Chain. That's The Story

"Craft. You're fired."

"Eeeeeeh!"

And so, I once again got kicked out of the party.

It was a sunny day, exactly 4 years since I became an adventurer on my 16th birthday.

"Seriously, you were useless."

"I feel bad, but are you really a magician?"

"I can't believe it, but is the magician's emblem engraved on your left-hand fake?"

"Gu..."

From the words of the party leader, the warrior Marboro, the only female, the ranger Marietta, chimed in.

The reactions of the other members were similar.

Marboro is annoying, but he's a talented guy. Considering my abilities, I understand the complaints, but isn't he going too far?

"Why can't you, with the emblem, only use basic magic? And the power is unbelievably weak!"

"It's hard to believe that a magician can't even defeat a single goblin."

"Gu gu gu gu..."

What they're saying is correct.

It's frustrating not being able to counter with valid arguments!

"Well, just give up."

"...I understand. Thanks for everything."

"I hate to say it, Craft, but you don't have the talent of an adventurer."

"With so much magical power, being a magician who can hardly use magic..."

While enduring the continued complaints after leaving that place, I walked dejectedly to the reception of the Adventurer's Guild.

"Again, Craft-san?"

"Yeah, again."

As if she had realized it in the gloomy atmosphere, the receptionist turned a weary face towards me.

"It's difficult to say, but I don't think you're cut out to be an adventurer."

"I've been trying my best."

"I know. But your magic is just too weak."

"...Yeah."

"What will you do from now on? Look for a new party?"

I've joined countless parties before, but none of them lasted long.

Quietly, I stroked the emblem engraved on the back of my left hand.

The magician's emblem.

On the day of receiving the emblem called the rite of passage, with higher magical power than others, there was no doubt that I would carve the emblem of a magician without hesitation.

The person in charge of the ceremony even stamped a seal of approval, saying that I would become a good magician.

But...

But...

For some reason, every attack spell I cast had significantly weaker power compared to ordinary magicians.

I was confident in my magical power, so during my early days as an adventurer, it wasn't a problem because I could cast spells continuously.

Moreover, I only learned extremely basic magic.

While those with emblems receive new magic and techniques as they grow.

And so, I joined parties, only to be kicked out as a useless member repeatedly.

"Craft-san, actually, I've been asked a little favor by the Production Guild."

"The Production Guild? What kind of request is it?"

"It's not exactly a request."

"?"

"Recently, in the territory of Viscount Veil Road, they've decided to establish a new pioneer village. The Production Guild is looking for someone who can stay there for an extended period."

"Pioneer?"

"Yes. Moreover, it would be preferable if the person belonged to the Production Guild."

"Does that mean..."

"Yes. If possible, they're looking for someone who can fight a bit, even if it's just a little, and they hope that person is affiliated with the Production Guild."

"So, you're saying I should quit the Adventurer's Guild and join the Production Guild?"

"That's right."

In other words, even from the perspective of the Adventurer's Guild, I am recognized as someone who they can send to the Production Guild without causing trouble.

As a loner, if I can't be an adventurer, I must quickly find a new occupation.

"...Alright. I'll accept that offer."

"Eh!?"

"Tell me the details."

"W-Wow! Alright! There's also an introduction fee!"

She probably didn't expect me to accept the offer so readily; the receptionist hastily flipped through the documents.

And so.

After various procedures, I quit being an adventurer.
