Demon Prince 55.2

Chapter 55.2. Dailan, The Western Town

The receptionist seemed nervous.

She flinched just from me talking to her.

She must’ve realized who I was during the drunkard’s scene earlier.

The other receptionists were cheering her on with gestures saying, "You got this!"

“I’m just here as an adventurer today, so please act normal. Even if there’s a bit of rudeness, I won’t mind.”

“Y-Yes!”

That seemed to calm her down a little.

Let’s get the conversation going.

“I have some questions about the Sahuagin extermination quest. Can you tell me about the situation in the cave?”

“Yes. There’s a cave at the foot of the mountain. There’s a small underground lake in the back. And it seems to be connected to the sea. That’s why the Sahuagin settled there.”

“So, even if we exterminate them, they’ll probably come back eventually?”

“Yes, it’s likely to be a recurring request.”

I guess diving into a lake filled with magical beasts to seal an underwater passage isn’t realistic.

Maybe there’s a way to handle it with magic.

“Are there any other dangerous creatures in the cave or along the way?”

“None have been reported, aside from a bear spotted near the cave.”

If there are no other significant threats besides the Sahuagin, then there shouldn’t be an issue.

Everyone seems to agree, so let’s accept the quest.

“We’ll take this quest.”

“Understood. Please take care.”

After completing the registration, we headed toward the cave.

“Oh! Jun-sama!”

As we exited the adventurer’s guild, a young girl called my name.

It was Lydia, the only daughter of this town’s lord.

Ever since I healed her illness with my magic, she’s been attached to me.

With her golden ringlet hair and aristocratic demeanor, she’s quite a beauty—.

And as I recall, the same age as me.

She rushed toward me with a speed that belied her past frailty, and then leaped at me full force.

“It’s been so long, Lydia-sam—huh!?”

“What?”

She crashed into me, and I couldn’t catch her.

Now I was airborne, soaring like a ball thrown by an overzealous pitcher.

Thankfully, I was flying toward the empty ocean rather than slamming into walls or bystanders.

But falling into the ocean? That’s a no-go!

I activated the Demon God’s Crest and Demon King’s Crest then used flight magic, and avoided the sea.

That was close…

“My deepest apologies!”

“I’m so sorry, Jun-sama!”

“No, it’s fine. Please, raise your heads.”

Along with Lydia, bowing her head in unison, was her father, Ortroi Dailan, the lord of this town.

Since I healed Lydia, he’s been ridiculously devoted to me, which, while sincere, can be exhausting.

In Elmbarn, where there’s no nobility, only the royal family and lords have surnames.

Lords are allowed to use the names of their towns as their family names.

“No! My daughter’s misstep is my misstep! Allowing her to knock you over is unforgivable! I must take responsibility with my life!”

“No, Father! This is my fault! I must take responsibility!”

“No, it’s mine!”

“No, it’s mine!”

“Enough already!”

This.

This is why I find them hard to deal with.

Ortroi has always been like this, but Lydia’s the same way?

Well, they are parent and child.

“Still, Jun-sama, I can’t leave this without consequences!”

“Yes, please allow me to—”

“No, let me!”

Sigh. No choice.

I hate doing this, but let’s play the noble.

“All right. We were just about to head out for the Sahuagin extermination. When we return, we plan to enjoy some delicious fish dishes in this town. Ortroi-dono, could I trouble you to arrange the finest fish cuisine? Consider that your punishment.”

“Such generosity! It shall be done! I, Ortroi, will prepare the best fish dishes for you!”

“Thank you, Jun-sama!”

At last, they seemed satisfied.

The others looked on with faces that said, “Well, what can you do?”

“By the way, Jun-sama, who are your companions?”

Ah, right. Lydia and Ortroi hadn’t met everyone aside from Noella and Sebast.

“These are—”

I introduced each person one by one.

As expected of a lord, Ortroi seemed familiar with Yuu and Ai’s names.

“Ah, Yuu and Ai are with you as well. All the more reason to prepare a feast fit for royalty!”

“Are you two joining the adventure as well?”

“Well, I’m aiming to become an adventurer someday.”

“Same here!”

“That’s amazing. I could never manage such courage. It’s terrifying!”

“That’s normal. By the way, may I ask something?”

“Yes, what is it?”

“Lydia-sama’s strength... What is it exactly?”

That strength isn’t normal.

If I wasn’t wearing adventurer-grade equipment...

“Ah, I actually bear the Super Strength Crest!”

Does she possess that Crest? Figures.

It grants not only immense strength but also a body that can endure it.

Perfect for adventurers—if controlled properly.

“I usually control it well, but I got so excited seeing Jun-sama…”

“Isn’t that dangerous for, you know, a wedding night?”

Ai, why are you like this?

“Wouldn’t tying her hands work?”

Noella, please don’t join in.

“Wouldn’t that make her first night abnormally weird?”

Yuu, stop egging her on!

“I think it’s a solid plan!”

“I agree!”

Even Tina and Nina!?

“Well, normal rope wouldn’t hold me. Another plan might be better…”

Lydia, there’s no need to answer that seriously!

Let’s just head to the cave.

“We’ll be off.”

“Safe travels.”

Somehow, I already feel drained.

But let’s focus and get this quest done.

The journey to the cave was smooth.

Naturally, that made conversation lively.

“They’re a remarkable family, aren’t they? Not bad people, but…”

“Agreed completely.”

“I’ve heard the townsfolk speak highly of them. Even the Demon King seems to trust them greatly.”

I’ve heard that as well.

“Lydia-sama’s quite the beauty, isn’t she? And for twelve, she’s… well…”

I can’t deny that either.

“Hey, onii-chan.”

“What is it?”

“Why are there so many big-busted girls around you?”

“How would I know!?”

It’s not like I’m deliberately gathering them!

“Jun-sama?”

“What, Tina?”

“Do you like big breasts?”

Why are you asking that!?

“That’s a secret.”

“No, Jun-sama, this is critical information. Please tell us!”

How is this critical? Please enlighten me!

“Don’t worry, you two. Jun doesn’t just like big breasts. He likes breasts in general.”

“Yeah, but he leans toward the big ones, doesn’t he?”

Why are you answering for me—and accurately!?

“We’re here at the cave. Focus up, everyone!”

“You’re dodging the question.”

“You’re dodging it.”

“Dodged!”

Just get in already!
