3. Skill [Necromancer] Reaches Second Stage
“So that means the skill’s effect has been enhanced—?”
I muttered, reading the text aloud in confusion.
“Perfect timing, Master, a group of monsters has appeared.”
Mirage said.
When I turned, I saw over a dozen wolf-type monsters approaching from one end of the corridor.
They were large wolves armed with sword-like fangs—Sword Wolves.
“Attack.”
I gave the command briefly.
“Understood.”
Mirage drew its sword and charged into the group of Sword Wolves.
Slash, slice!
The battle was over in an instant.
On our way, we had been attacked by monsters several times, and each time Mirage had taken care of them with overwhelming strength.
In just a few seconds, all the Sword Wolves were slain and lying on the ground. Then,
[Skill [Necromancer] has been activated]
[You can enslave the souls of 13 Sword Wolves and make them your servants]
[Would you like to make them your servants?]
“This is—”
Until now, I’d never seen this kind of message when I defeated monsters other than the lowest-level ghosts.
Even when my classmates defeated monsters, I couldn’t enslave them as my servants.
“So the skill’s reached the second stage, and now I can make monsters other than ghosts and skeletons my servants…”
Sword Wolves were mid-level monsters, but with 13 of them, I could form a decent fighting force.
Of course, Mirage was still overwhelmingly powerful, but there was only one of him.
“I’ll make all 13 my servants—but walking around with them following me would be tough…”
“That won’t be a problem.”
Mirage said.
“Enslaved undead can be stored in your shadow, Master.”
“What, really?”
I continued progressing through the dungeon with Mirage.
Since my ability to enslave the undead had improved dramatically, my next goal was to add a servant that could guide us through the dungeon.
That way, we could escape this labyrinth and return to the surface.
“There it is.”
Before long, Mirage pointed ahead.
It was a gigantic beetle-like monster, about one meter long... a Dungeon Worm.
As the name suggests, it was a common monster found in dungeons.
“It roams throughout the dungeon. It should know all the corridors.”
“I just need to defeat it and make it my servant, right?”
“Exactly. Given your current abilities, you should be able to enslave it without issue.”
Mirage said.
“Shall I defeat it for you? Or would you prefer to do it yourself?”
“Huh?”
I couldn’t help but ask in surprise.
“Me, myself?”
“With your skill reaching the second stage, a portion of your undead servants’ abilities have been added to your stats. Your physical abilities, senses, and magical power should all be greatly enhanced now.”
“What, really?”
Now that it was mentioned it, my body did feel lighter.
So, the strength of my servants—currently 13 Sword Wolves and Mirage—was partially boosting my own power, huh?
“You should be able to display your stats. Why don’t you try it?”
“Huh?”
How did Mirage know that?
Curious, I gave it a try and spoke the words,
“Status Open.”
It’s that classic line from fantasy manga set in another world.
And then,
