Chapter 38.1. I Registered As An Adventurer

Twelve years have passed since my reincarnation. I am now twelve years old. My height is almost the same as when I was twelve in my previous life, around 170 cm. By this point, people rarely mistake me for a girl. Though, it still happens occasionally…

And now, I’ve come to register at the Adventurer’s Guild in the royal capital. To become an adventurer, you need to register with the Guild, and you can register from the age of twelve.

"So, why are you tagging along?"

"Oh, come on, it's fine. I’m interested too."

"I’ll be registering when I turn twelve, so I want to see how it goes."

"Noella and I are already registered, so as seniors, we can show you the ropes. Besides, you’re planning to take on a quest, right? You’ll need a guard."

"Where Jun-sama goes, I go."

"Lily is also registered at the Adventurer’s Guild, so she’s your senior too!"

So, as usual, the whole gang came with me to register. The little maid squad like Tina wanted to come too, but they prioritized school.

"Just make sure you don’t cause any trouble."

"Don’t worry, we’re not children."

"Yeah, stop treating us like kids already."

Well, despite the argument, they still look like kids. In fact, they kind of act like it, probably influenced by their appearance. Or maybe they’ve always been like that, even in their past lives. I’m not sure I can really talk, though...

"Excuse me, I’d like to register."

I asked the receptionist, a woman of the bovine race, to register me. She’s big. I won’t mention what exactly is big, but she’s just... big.

"Yes, you’d like to register… wait, Ju-Jun-samaaa?!"

The bovine woman realized I was the Demon Prince and stood up abruptly. With that movement, her, um, large assets jiggled. Without thinking, I followed the movement with my eyes. If I had to describe it, it would be like ba-boing, ba-boing. Not just me, but the men around me were all doing the same. Brothers in arms…!

"Ouch."

"Jun?"

"Onii-chan?"

"Yes, I’m sorry."

Yuu and Ai kicked my legs. It seems I stared too long. Noella is giving me a cold look as well. Lily’s cheeks are puffed out in a pout. Sebasto placed a hand on my shoulder with a thumbs-up. A man understands, right?

"J-Just a moment, please! I’ll go call the Guild Master!"

"Huh? Why?"

Before I could get an answer, the bovine receptionist ran off. Even from behind, you could tell they were bouncing. What a sight…!

When her figure finally disappeared, I exchanged glances with the other men who had seen the same spectacle. We gave each other silent thumbs-ups. No words were needed to understand each other. That, the greatness of it all, made it possible. How glorious!

"Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m Lark, the Guild Master."

As I was lost in silly thoughts, the Guild Master arrived. The receptionist was with him. The Guild Master had a scar on his face and looked exactly like the rough, tough type you'd expect. He was probably of the ogre race.

"What brings the Demon Prince here? Something important?"

"No, I’m just here to register as an adventurer."

"Huh? Just to register?"

"Yes."

"Oi. Oi, Wushu!"

"Y-Yes!"

"Why’d you call me over?"

"Well, he’s the Demon Prince! We can’t afford to be rude!"

I get what she’s saying, but is this really necessary?

"And if the Demon Prince is registering, shouldn’t the Guild Master at least greet him?"

Well, I can see that point too.

"Hah, fine. So, you're the Demon Prince, huh? Aslad and Eliza’s kid. You don’t look much like Aslad. Maybe a bit like Eliza?"

"You knew my parents?"

"Yeah. Did you know they were adventurers once? I used to be one too. We did a few quests together back in the day."

"Really? Oh, and this girl with the mix of blonde and black hair is my sister, Yuu."

"I’m Yuu. Nice to meet you."

"Ah, pleased to meet you. You don’t look much like Aslad either. It’d be a shame if a girl looked like that guy though. Gahahaha."

Well, he’s right, but should you really say that about the Demon King? I guess it’s fine since they seem close.

"We can chat about those two over a meal someday. You came to register, right? Then Wushu will take care of the rest. If anything comes up, I’ll help you out. I’m usually here, so just drop by. See ya."

"Thank you."

"Aww, you’re not handling the registration, Guild Master?"

"Idiot. Guild Masters don’t handle rookie registrations. That’s your job as the receptionist."

"But he’s the Demon Prince! I’m just a cute klutzy character. It’s too much for me!"

"Don’t say that about yourself. Just do your job. As long as you don’t mess up too badly, he won’t get mad. Right?"

"Yes, of course."

"See? You’ll be fine."

"O-Okay…"

She looks so nervous, I feel a bit guilty.

"Th-Then, please fill out this form. Do you need help writing?"

"No, I can handle it."
