Chapter 4. About Nations
Next, I investigated the major countries of the world.
First, the country I live in. The Elmbern Demon Kingdom.
It is a demon kingdom ruled by my father, Demon King Aslad Elmbern.
Dwarves, Dark Elves, and a small number of Humans also live here.
It is a multi-ethnic country that is tolerant of different races and comfortable for half-breeds to live in.
The royal capital is located in what would be Japan on modern Earth, with territory extending to parts of Russia and China, as well as around the Korean Peninsula, forming a C-shaped area.
It was the first demon country to take steps toward ending the war with the human countries, and now, 300 years after the end of the war, it has trade and other interactions with human countries.
The country is peaceful, and my father seems to be a good ruler.
I feel relieved. I feel relieved, Father.
I'm sorry for crying when I first saw your face after I was born.
The Darmdatt Demon Kingdom.
A demon kingdom located on the Australian continent.
It is a friendly nation with the Elmbern Demon Kingdom.
Surrounded by the sea, it has a navy.
Due to the lingering memories of the war with humans, it has a strong antagonistic stance against humans.
Humans are generally not allowed to enter, but half-demons are accepted.
However, there are occasional issues such as persecution, so it cannot be said that they are fully accepted.
The Fremlira Union Demon Kingdom.
A demon kingdom formed by small countries located in the southern half of the North American continent.
Besides demons, Dwarves and fairies living in forests inhabit this country.
There is little interaction with other races, limited to state affairs.
It is a friendly nation with Elmbern and Darmdatt.
The Velria Kingdom.
Located to the north of the Elmbern Demon Kingdom in eastern Russia.
A human-ruled country where demons also live, making it a multi-ethnic state.
It was the first human country to take steps toward ending the war with demons.
Therefore, it interacts amicably with demon countries, including the Elmbern Demon Kingdom, and allows demons to live there.
This sometimes causes issues, but the country is generally peaceful.
However, it is under pressure from countries that still view demons as enemies.
The Grimmoire Magic Kingdom.
Located on the South American continent.
A rich, natural country where High Elves rule and Elves and fairies live.
The Dwarven city "Dwand" is also in this country.
It is the most advanced country in magical technology and tools, but due to its nature of avoiding the destruction of nature, it suffers from chronic shortages of timber and mineral resources.
It relies on imports from other countries and provides technology in exchange.
Elves are known for their beauty, making this country renowned for having the most beautiful people in the world.
I would love to visit.
The Holy Elminea Theocracy.
Located in Europe.
It is a theocratic state founded on the teachings of Saint Elminea, who, bearing the crest of the saint and wielding divine weapons, saved people from the brink of defeat against demons and magical beasts.
Due to its history, it cannot reconcile with demons, and although it agreed to the end of the war, the embers of conflict still smolder.
However, with the end of the war, people's faith seems to be waning.
I should probably avoid this country.
Given my previous life's aversion to religion and being a demon, it’s best to steer clear.
These are the major countries in this world. There are also many other smaller demons and human nations.
The language is universal. Most countries share a common currency, with only a few exceptions.
The currency includes iron coins, copper coins, large copper coins, silver coins, large silver coins, gold coins, large gold coins, platinum coins, and large platinum coins.
In Japanese yen:
Iron coin = 10 yen, Copper coin = 100 yen, Large copper coin = 1,000 yen, Silver coin = 10,000 yen, Large silver coin = 50,000 yen,
Gold coin = 100,000 yen, Large gold coin = 1,000,000 yen, Platinum coin = 10,000,000 yen, Large platinum coin = 100,000,000 yen.
This is based on my observations of prices when I was taken to town and knowledge from books.
In demon countries, there are royal families but no nobility.
Only royal families have surnames, with the country name as the surname.
Thus, my name is Jun Elmbern, making me the prince of the Elmbern Demon Kingdom.
“Demon Prince” is an unfamiliar term, but in demon countries, the children of the demon king are called demon princes or princesses.
Having been an ordinary person in my previous life, suddenly being treated as a prince is overwhelming...
I’ll have to get used to it gradually. I hope I can get used to it…
I must avoid becoming an arrogant ruler. I don’t want a coup.
However, given my long-lived demon father, it will be a long time before I inherit the kingdom.
I’ll stop worrying about it for now.
In human countries, in addition to royal families, there are nobles, and only royals and nobles have surnames.
Royals and nobles manage the country and territories, overseeing politics.
When visiting other countries, it’s important to be cautious in lands governed by those who dislike demons.
