Chapter 380. The Finale
Having defeated the Vampire Boss, we retraced our steps and descended the stairs.
From the third floor to the second, then down the grand staircase in the entrance hall to the first floor,
we finally made our way down to the basement staircase.
I promised the young wolf-fang boy that we would save his sister.
Even if that promise was empty at its core, we did what we could, what we had to do.
All that was left was to pray──
We arrived at the door to the basement.
I cautiously, slowly opened the door.
Inside, we found the wolf-fang woman adventurer, tightly bound in ropes.
She was twisting and struggling with muffled groans.
Her back was to us, so I couldn’t tell if her eyes were red.
However, her movements felt distinctly human.
We cautiously approached and looked at her face.
Her eyes weren’t the deep crimson of a vampire’s servant, but a rational light green.
First, we removed her gag.
The wolf-fang woman adventurer immediately burst into speech.
“Phew─. Who… who are you? Where is this place? What even happened…? That black-coated monster… it bit me, controlled me… Am I alive? What’s going on?”
Her reaction wasn’t that of a monster.
She had undeniably returned to being human.
Overjoyed, I embraced Kazane and Hotaru, who were equally elated.
Then we freed the wolf-fang adventurer, Aira, from her bindings.
A notification of mission completion appeared.

I didn’t really get why it was labeled “secret”.
Why was it hidden, anyway?
Well, trying to figure out the mission system is a waste of time, so I gave up on it.
We got 30,000 points, so let’s just call it a win.
After that, we left the vampire-infested castle with Aira and returned to the village.
The mist that had surrounded the castle was gone, as if it had never existed.
Though the eerie plants were still there, so Hotaru was still spooked.
On the way back, Aira suddenly remembered something important and asked us frantically, “What day is it today!?”
We told her it should be the day after she was attacked by the vampire, and she seemed deeply relieved.
When we returned to the village, we told the villagers that the monster causing the trouble had been vanquished.
The villagers cheered as one and offered to throw us a feast.
While we hesitated over whether to accept, Aira expressed a desire to return to the city immediately.
With that, we declined the villagers’ invitation and headed straight back to town.
By the time we reached the city of Zerke, it was already past sunset.
As night fell, we passed through the city gates and made our way to the Adventurers’ Guild.
“Onee-chan!”
At the guild, the wolf-fang boy was waiting for us.
The moment he saw his sister, he ran to her and hugged her tightly.
Aira embraced him just as fiercely, tears streaming down her face.
Watching the touching reunion, Kazane, Hotaru, and I smiled warmly.
At the reception desk, we reported the mission’s completion and received our rewards.
Our progress on the mission, Complete 6 S-Rank Quests (Experience Points: 200,000) updated from 4/6 to 5/6.
This quest didn’t grant direct experience points, but one more S-Rank mission would complete it.
By the time we finished at the guild, the wolf-fang siblings had calmed down.
Aira led her brother over to us and expressed her gratitude.
“Thank you so much. You saved us. Thanks to you, my brother won’t have to spend his birthday alone. His birthday is tomorrow, and I’d promised to be back by then… but as you saw, things didn’t go as planned.”
“Onee-chan! That doesn’t matter at all! Your life being saved is a million times more important!”
Her brother interjected from behind her.
Aira looked a bit embarrassed.
“Well, sure, but still. You could phrase it better than ‘that doesn’t matter,’ you know.”
“It doesn’t matter! My birthday can’t compare to your life, dummy!”
“D-don’t call me a dummy, you dummy!”
Watching the siblings bicker affectionately, we couldn’t help but laugh.
Even Griff, in his pet form, let out a cheerful “Kupi, kupi~♪.”
The wolf-fang siblings, blushing furiously, began blaming each other.
“See, now they’re laughing at us! It’s your fault, Roa!”
“No, it’s yours, onee-chan!”
After saying our goodbyes to the siblings, we headed to a tavern, where we celebrated with a party of our own before retiring to our inn.
That night, we indulged in a playful vampire roleplay on the bed.
“Aah, senpai, no… If you bite me like that, I’ll…”
“Heh heh… My dear junior, your body and soul are now mine. Surrender yourself.”
“Hey, don’t forget about me! If you don’t attack me too, I’ll go crazy with jealousy!”
“Quick, senpai! Attack Kazane before she goes yandere!”
“O-oh, right. Kazane, prepare yourself. You can’t escape my fangs now!”
“Kyaa! Daichi-kun’s biting meee~! I’m going to become his servant~!”
…And so, we had an incredibly fun night.
The next morning, we all slept in much later than usual.
