Strong—.

I held my breath.

Kenzaki boasts top-class melee combat skills in our class.

For someone to overwhelm him at close range with sheer force—.

And yet, I felt as if Ran’s true potential still hadn’t been revealed.

There was an air about him—like he was still hiding something.

"Hey now, that was just a warm-up."

Ran smiled.

"I was about to get serious, but… you can handle my full power, right?"

The ground trembled.

Something like a black mist began drifting from Ran’s entire body.

What is that—?

"You…!"

Kenzaki groaned.

"Your ability was to 'erase a designated area,' wasn’t it…?"

He glared at Ran.

"What the hell is this—?"

His face stiffened.

Clearly.

The look of fear was plain to see.

"I didn’t know…."

"Of course not—I’ve never shown it before."

Ran smiled again.

A calm, detached smile—out of place on a battlefield.

"This only became possible recently.

It seems my skill is evolving."

As he spoke, Ran pointed behind him.

There, something inhuman appeared.

A shadowy figure cloaked in a black hood and robe.

It carried a massive scythe and wore a skull mask.

There was no mistaking it—

It had the unmistakable silhouette of a Grim Reaper.

"This is the second stage of my skill."

Ran said.

"…!"

I gasped.

I’d never heard of anyone’s "Hero Skill" evolving before.

That’s why I was so shocked when my own skill reached the next stage in that dungeon.

But—

I never imagined anyone else could achieve it, too.

"No, actually… it makes sense."

Everyone in the class has a Hero Skill.

It wouldn’t be strange if someone else’s skill advanced to the second stage.

"Heh, creepy thing you’ve got there…

But do you think that’ll scare me!?"

Kenzaki roared and charged again.

"Ramming attacks or some variation of brute-force moves… You're a one-trick pony."

Ran sighed.

"You have no sense for combat."

"Oh yeah? If that’s what you think—"

In an instant, Kenzaki’s body burst apart.

"What…!?"

No—that’s not it.

He shed the armored skin wrapped around him.

Beneath it was a metallic hide—

So this is what his "Beast Transformation" could do!?

"This is my trump card!

Now die!"

With a sonic boom, Kenzaki accelerated further.

He must have gotten faster after shedding his heavy armor.

At an incredible speed, he rushed straight toward Ran.

"Let’s end this!"

"If that’s your wish, I’ll oblige."

Kenzaki and Ran’s attacks collided—.
