Necromancer 11

 Test

11. Tanaka And Suzuki

"Tanaka’s skill is as strong as ever."

"Haha. Your skill has some solid firepower too."

Tanaka and Suzuki were praising each other.

They felt nothing about killing the bandits—in fact, it was as if they were competing for a high score in a game.

“We didn’t need to kill them.”

I looked at the bandits' corpses,

“We could have captured them and handed them over to the military police—”

“Huh? They’d just be a nuisance to people if they were alive.”

“Like pest control, right? Hehe.”

As expected, Tanaka and Suzuki showed no signs of guilt.

“Besides, this isn’t Japan.”

“And we’re ‘heroes’—a privileged class.”

“That doesn’t mean you can kill people without a reason.”

I glared at the two.

“Huh?”

Tanaka glared back at me.

This guy is the ace pitcher of the baseball team, and he’s almost 190 cm tall. His large body loomed over me, full of intimidation.

“Shigure, you think you can give us advice?”

“I’m just saying what I think.”

I wasn’t shaken.

Before, I would’ve been scared for sure—but now, strangely enough, I didn’t feel fear.

“For someone like you, Shigure, you’re acting pretty bold.”

Suzuki stood next to Tanaka.

“Hehehe.”

“Want to scare him a bit?”

The two exchanged glances.

“—[Flying Sword].”

Voom!

A longsword suddenly appeared out of thin air.

Tanaka’s skill, [Flying Sword]. As the name suggests, it’s a skill that summons swords for attacking.

He can summon up to 33 swords, all of which move freely through the air at his command.

Clang!

I knocked down the approaching sword with the blade I drew from my waist.

“W-What...!?”

“That’s dangerous. Don’t attack so suddenly.”

“Y-You...!? How dare a guy like you, Shigure, block my attack!”

Voom!

Three more swords appeared in the air.

Each one came from a different angle. An average person wouldn’t be able to react in time and would get sliced up.

Maybe he got mad because I blocked the first attack; now he wasn’t holding back. But—I could see everything with my stats, which had risen far beyond before.

The trajectory of all three swords.

Clang clang clang!

I swung my sword, knocking down all three swords in rapid succession. They all landed at Tanaka’s feet.

“If you’re seriously aiming at me, next time I’ll deflect them toward your body.”

I pointed the tip of my sword at him.

“Guh…”

Tanaka’s face paled instantly.

“…It was just a joke. I wouldn’t seriously aim at you.”

But his body was trembling as he said that.

“W-What the hell is this guy…?”

Suzuki looked at me in surprise as well.

They both realized it. My movements and reactions were clearly different from before.

Or maybe they just thought it was a fluke.

“I’m heading back to the castle. What about you two?”

“We…”

“There’s no need to tell you! Let’s go!”

Suzuki wrapped her arm around Tanaka’s.

Wait, are these two dating? Their vibe seemed more like lovers than just friends.

“We’re just going to hang out in the capital. Ugh, this world is so boring, there’s nothing to do.”

“Don’t say that. Once you get used to it, it’s actually kinda fun.”

“Well… if I’m with you, I guess.”

“Hehehe.”

Yeah, they definitely seem like they’re dating.

Honestly, I’m a little jealous that they have someone. They were probably passing through here while goofing around.

This road does lead from the capital to another city, after all.

“I guess… I’ll head back.”

I started walking down the road to the capital.

I glanced once more at the bandits’ corpses.

Even though they were scumbags—I offered a quick silent prayer.

Just for a moment.
