Prologue 2. After The Engagement With Karen Was Decided~
○ Month ☽ Day
After the duel, I became Karen’s fiancé.
Wait a minute.
This is weird. When I went to protest to the headmaster, she gave me a thumbs-up... And why did Karen’s jerk of a father accept it so easily?
If you’re going to look that frustrated, then at least put up more of a fight.
I haven’t seen Karen since that day.
Apparently, some preparations are needed. At least I was relieved to find out it wasn’t for a wedding...
But there’s no point in thinking about it now...
For now, let’s focus on appeasing Mashiro, who’s been in a bad mood ever since the engagement was settled.
# Month ☽ Day
Could it be that the one being shallow was me?
Judging and evaluating people based on appearances alone.
I’ve reflected on how terrible that was.
Karen stopped dressing as a man and started coming to school in the girls’ uniform.
There was one big change.
Her chest had become huge.
It had swelled up to the point of being distorted.
And I accepted the engagement with Karen.
Because seriously, what choice did I have?
Who in their right mind would reject a girl who’s that busty, that cute, and actually likes me?
You wouldn’t find a better offer anywhere in the academy.
So, I’ve decided to do my best as Karen’s fiancé.
▽ Month ☽ Day
I’ve been appointed as a student council member.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. When I think about it, it makes no sense.
Apparently, this is the headmaster’s way of trying to improve my standing, thanks to being Karen’s fiancé.
What happened to proper communication? Don’t just wield your authority and then announce things after they’re irreversible.
That old hag—I swear, one day I’ll punch her.
But that’s not the only issue.
To my shock, Mashiro also became a student council member.
She had opposed the idea of me having more alone time with Karen, so she volunteered herself.
Now, every day, Karen and Mashiro—my two busty heroines—look up at me with pleading eyes.
Damn it! I will not be defeated by boobs.
I won’t…!
☆ Month ☽ Day
I became a student council member.
I don’t want to see anything, hear anything, or remember anything.
Just thinking back on the disgrace I displayed is enough to wound my heart, so I’m sealing the memory.
That smug smile on Milfonty’s face, like she knew everything all along, really pissed me off.
So, I’ve ended up joining the student council, but apparently, they don’t expect me to handle regular duties.
The headmaster’s true aim is for Mashiro and me to represent the academy in the magic battle tournament.
⇒ Month ☽ Day
The magic battle tournament is a competition between students from the nine magic academies spread across the regions—a glorified bragging contest.
They select thirty representatives, forming ten teams of three people each.
We’ll be competing in various divisions, but… it seems they want to include us on Milfonty’s team.
From what I’ve heard, last year’s tournament saw Milfonty, the disciple of the legendary ‘Frone of Thunder’ on the team, but they only came in second place, which led to a lot of bashing of the senior members who were on the same team.
Since it’s a team of nobles, losing to a mixed academy with commoners was probably a huge humiliation.
Milfonty herself delivered results, so she faced a storm of criticism.
Judging from all that, I’m probably the sacrificial lamb.
We cannot afford to lose, not even once. The others backed out under pressure.
But me? I’m already infamous, so I’m the perfect scapegoat for criticism.
As much as I hate being in the student council, I’m actually interested in being a representative.
If I can meet students from other schools as a competitor, I can build connections with promising talents for future recruitment.
Not everyone in this world is a saint, and some students might be looking for an employer.
Only at our Royal Academy, Rishburg, do so many sons and daughters of nobles gather.
For those students, I, with my backing as the son of a duke, am a prime candidate for a future employer.
It’s hard to find new candidates for a harem within the academy anymore.
So, it’s time to look outside!
I wonder if there’s a cute girl out there with big boobs!
☼ Month ☽ Day
Ever since I became a representative, I’ve been spending more time with Milfonty.
Since we’re on the same team, it makes sense that we’d practice our coordination, but… her gaze is suspicious.
It feels like she’s probing me, like she’s looking into my very soul—a creepy sensation.
I guess even she, despite her master’s decision, has her doubts.
She must be dissatisfied that I was chosen.
What’s this? I thought she didn’t have any human emotions, but it turns out she’s got some cute, relatable feelings too.
So, I told her that if she has any complaints for the headmaster, I’ll take them up for her.
For some reason, she just laughed.
What the heck? So, she can laugh.
? Month ☽ Day
After spending a lot of time together, I realized Milfonty is quite capable.
She’s considerate, gets along well with Mashiro and the others, and doesn’t shy away from me.
And most importantly, the tea she brews is delicious.
It’s so good that even Alice, who rarely gets down, was sulking because of how much I praised it.
In this life, I’ve always gotten everything I wanted.
Since I couldn’t remember hearing her future plans, I took a bold step and tried recruiting her.
I figured Milfonty would give me an answer without worrying about my engagement with Karen.
Well, I got rejected.
But what did she mean by, “I don’t have the right for that”?
...Could it be that she’s self-conscious about not having a big chest compared to the others?
Anyway, I decided not to give up and will continue my recruitment efforts.
♡ Month ☆ Day
The stage for the magic battle tournament is the island nation of the Lambdav Kingdom.
I heard it’s Milfonty’s homeland.
Once devastated by war with the demons, it has now flourished as a tourist spot.
For those of us whose futures won’t be directly impacted by this tournament, it feels like a vacation.
Milfonty, who rarely voices her opinions, seems to be taking more solo outings than usual, perhaps because she has many places she wants to revisit in her hometown.
I should keep an eye on her.
That aside, Mashiro? Could you please stop tugging on my clothes out of jealousy?
▲ Month ☆ Day
Our team, as expected, was entered into the magic battle division, where Milfonty and Mashiro’s abilities can be fully utilized.
The competition is divided into four blocks, with a tournament-style bracket to decide the winning school.
Karen, dressed in an elaborate gown, was waving energetically.
And for some reason, Alice was standing next to her, directing a mysterious cheer squad.
Stop it. Don’t shout so loudly. Don’t wave those flags.
The way everyone’s staring at us is unbearable.
...Damn it! Fine, I’ll show them what I’m made of!
I’ll cause a real scene, just you wait!
AMonth ☆ Day
Magic and martial arts. With our team excelling in both, we’ve been steadily advancing, but there’s a concerning rumor circulating.
Several students from various schools have gone missing.
And of course, the one who can’t ignore such news is our school’s mad dog, Alice.
I couldn’t care less about other students, but I can’t allow Mashiro and Karen to be targeted.
I appealed to the tournament committee, and it seems that the "Lightning Throne" herself will intervene to resolve the situation.
Even if the tournament gets canceled, it’ll take a few days to leave this country.
The Lambdaav Kingdom sees this as a major opportunity to make money, so they’re reluctant to cooperate.
In that case, we’ll take matters into our own hands.
We’ve moved from the academy’s dorms to a local luxury hotel, and I’ve also arranged for Aliban and others to provide security. Alice and I are on high alert as well.
This should offer us some peace of mind.
Though I invited Milfonty to join us out of camaraderie, she chose to stay behind with the remaining students in her role as student council president.
That’s just like her.
But Milfonty, are you aware?
You’ve stopped smiling.
⁂ Month ☆ Day
It was a good thing I went to check on Milfonty at the dorm.
She wasn’t quite herself—she’d been injured.
When I confronted the assailant, they were indeed skilled.
If my [Magic Funeral] wasn’t so specialized in anti-mage combat, we both might’ve been abducted.
We were lucky they retreated, not wanting a prolonged battle, especially with reinforcements from the "Lightning Throne" on the way.
I managed to protect Milfonty, who’s important to me, and in the end, the other students were saved too, making it the best possible outcome.
...Next time, if we encounter the attacker again, I’ll have to unveil one more hidden technique.
I also made sure to tell her something else.
“When I decide I want something, I’m not going to give up on it.”
Anyway, tomorrow is the final match.
Let’s settle everything once and for all.
~ A Month Passes ~
& Month ☼ Day
Things have finally returned to normal, so I thought I’d write in my diary after a long time.
Let’s summarize what’s happened to me.
I’ve become the new student council president, taking over for Reina Milfonty.
Reina has become my new fiancée.
And, I’m set to be awarded a title from the king for preventing an internal rebellion.
...How did it come to this?
