Chapter 352. Daichi-kun VS Seven Owlbears
──side: Musou Slime──
The moment after my [Protection] activated.
Multiple Owlbear attacks struck my body.
While I managed to block or dodge some of the attacks with my shield, it was impossible to defend against or avoid them all.
If I had taken these blows before I broke through my limits—back when I was level 25—just three direct hits would have been fatal.
That’s the kind of monster an Owlbear is.
But now, things are different.
Though several Owlbear claws struck me directly, I wasn’t really damaged.
No, “wasn’t really damaged” might not be the right way to put it.
Rather, this is—
“This might be easier than I thought—[Triple Thrust]!”
Even as I was pummeled by the Owlbear horde, I counterattacked without hesitation.
The triple strike with my divine spear pierced one of the Owlbears surrounding me, turning it into black mist in an instant.
The other Owlbears around me seemed momentarily bewildered.
But soon, as if it didn’t matter, they began attacking again one after another.
“[Triple Thrust]!”
I unleashed a second attack.
The second Owlbear vanished, turning into a magic stone.
The remaining five Owlbears, either too dumb or too relentless, kept attacking without pause.
I was already tired of dodging.
“[Triple Thrust]!”
The third Owlbear disappeared.
The remaining four continued their assault.
They just kept attacking me relentlessly.
Do I look like I’m taking damage?
Do they think that if they attack enough times, they’ll eventually take me down?
Well, I don’t know if monsters even have thoughts or intelligence.
It was practically a chore.
While enduring the Owlbears’ attacks, I unleashed [Triple Thrust] over and over.
Each time I attacked, one Owlbear would disappear, leaving only a magic stone behind.
I heard a voice just as I finished off the fifth Owlbear.
“Daichi-kun, are you okay!?”
“Thank goodness, Senpai! You’re still safe—wait, only two left!?”
Kazane and Yuzuki rushed over, looking worried.
I noticed Kazane’s black outfit was torn in several places, with many wounds visible on her skin beneath.
“Kazane, are you alright!?”
“That’s my line! Daichi-kun, are you okay!?”
Kazane ran towards me, trying to engage the Owlbears in close combat.
But I stopped her.
“Don’t come near, Kazane! It’s dangerous with those injuries!”
“But—”
“It’s fine. I’m unharmed.”
Owlbear attacks kept raining down on my Gaia Armor and Gaia Helm.
But even as I took those hits, I felt no pain.
The armor and helm weren’t just resisting the Owlbears’ claws; I barely felt the impact of their strikes.
I hadn’t checked my HP, but I was pretty sure I hadn’t taken any damage.
Of course, that’s all thanks to the effects of [Protection].
When it wears off, I might take some damage, though.
“Huh…? No, no damage…?”
“Wait… are you serious, Senpai? [Tri-Fire]!”
“Yeah, dead serious. I was surprised too when I tried it—[Triple Thrust]!”
I had instantly killed the first two Owlbears before they could attack, so this was my first time actually taking their blows.
Anyway, the last two Owlbears were also dispatched by me and Yuzuki.
The ground around me was now littered with seven magic stones.
“Alright, it’s over. Kazane, let me heal you—whoa!”
“Daichi-kun, thank goodness…!”
“Senpai, don’t scare us like that!”
Just as I was about to cast healing magic on Kazane, the two of them suddenly hugged me.
I ended up being pushed to the ground.
Why…?
How did this happen?
“No, Kazane, I need to heal your wounds.”
“Ugh… I’m so glad, Daichi-kun…!”
“Senpai, you idiot…!”
Since they wouldn’t let go, I healed Kazane’s wounds while lying on the ground.
When I called, Griff, who had taken refuge in the trees, flew back over and chirped “Kupi, Kupi♪” as it circled above us.
I’m not entirely sure what just happened, but it seems like a happy ending.
I heard that both of them had defeated their assigned Owlbears.
By the way, when I checked my status, my HP was still 450/450, not a single point lost.
Shiny, pristine, no damage at all.
As I patted Kazane and Yuzuki on the head, I wondered if the other battlefield was okay.
Well, it should be fine.
We have enough firepower there.
Reguld and Adela should be able to handle it.
And so, after a while, I took the two of them back to where the carriage was waiting.
