Chapter 68.1. Masatoshi Sees Various Conspiracies

-Masatoshi's POV-

You could say it's matchless. The small person easily annihilated the scissors mantis who was chasing them, and they ran to the battlefield. They're formidable fighters. Who are they? No, could it be they can use recovery magic?

"Mion, what happened?"

"Mami! You were safe!"

Untying her arms from Masatoshi, Mion looks surprised to see her friend. She was probably dead. He's relieved seeing the two of them hugging each other and rejoicing. He chuckles and stands up, which isn't like him.

The people were also stunned, wondering what had happened. He looked toward the battlefield and saw relief tanks had appeared, and their allies were pushing back scissors mantis.

He patted his chest and dusted off the dust, feeling that everything seemed alright now. He's almost out of mana, and he's exhausted. That magic is an improvement. It exhausted him with just one shot of magic.

"You saved me?"

"Oh, no, I just wanted to thank you for the pizza. I didn't do anything."

"Masatoshi-sam, that's amazing! I can't believe you could easily defeat those monsters!"

Sena-san jumps to her feet and pushes her way over to Masatoshi, who holds her hand respectfully, not caring about the sticky blood he picked up from Mion.

"Phew. It's no big deal. It's more about your hands will get dirty, Sena-san."

He casually waves his hand away, saying Mion's fine, and he doesn't need to protect her anymore. With half-lidded eyes and a wry smile, Mion shrugs her shoulders. If she's alive, no problem. Goodbye, mob girl.

"Don't get greedy again!"

"Yes, yes, thank you!"

Mion waved her hand and left. We would never see each other again. Never, ever, will I feel awkward because I didn't get there in time to save her.

He uttered a final goodbye and immediately turned to Sena-san.

Masatoshi, the cool guy, seems to have caught the saint's love interest, and his nose grows longer, and his mouth relaxes. When he does it, he does it. With everyone's wounds healed and no deaths reported, his earlier remorse dissipates into a cloud, and he utters the awkward line.

"I'm sorry I was late to protect you. I'm disqualified as a knight."

He apologizes but gives a smile that he thinks is cool.

"No, don't worry about it. It's a sign of victory for Masatoshi-san. Oh, Masatoshi-san's victory is kind of weird."

Sena-san giggles and is adorable even in disguise. He becomes delirious in front of the novel's heroine.

"No, no, my name is weird, uhehe."

The Sena-san route is confirmed. After all, she's holding my bloody hand without disliking it, even though she would be soiled. Her eyes are hidden by her glasses. But he's sure they shine brightly as she gazes at the man she loves. The warmth of her hand holding his gently is comforting.

A slight lump remains in the corner of his heart, but he'll think about it later. If he thinks about it now, he might get sick and collapse.

Because he felt uncomfortable with Sena-san and the others who weren't paying attention to their surroundings. But, she was the heroine of the original story that he liked so much. It must have been his imagination.

She doesn't say that she's glad Mion survived, nor does try to look for those who are hurt, but she must be very upset. She's a kind-hearted Sena-san. No doubt.

"I'm sorry, Masatoshi. I didn't think you were that strong. That was amazing, that magic."

Without sarcasm, Shin approaches Masatoshi with respectful eyes, honestly praising him. He's indeed the protagonist. There is no trace of envy. As expected of the protagonist. He would have glared at him with envy and jealousy, and he laughs back, once again confirming the protagonist's good nature.

"Huh, once you awaken to mana, this level will be a piece of cake."

"Yes, I'm the heir to the Duke of Kanna, so I should be able to do this much. But for now, it's you, Masatoshi. You'll be the talk of the town, a heroic act."

"Really? Not so much? Oh no, now I'm maybe, no, nothing."

He laughs excitedly and stops just before he mentions that he might become Sena-san's fiancée. In the original story, for some reason, Sena-san did not have a fiancée. There was a potential fiancée, but he was an arrogant, sarcastic guy who got involved with Shin and had a template outcome. He couldn't make that mistake myself, he thought, just in time.

"Maybe Masatoshi-san will be my potential fiancée! Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so selfish."

"Oh, no, don't worry about it. I'm honored."

Sorry, protagonist-kun. Masatoshi smiles high, "I got Sena-san, hahaha.". Here was a man who was so excited that he was about to climb the heavens and break through the atmosphere.
