Chapter 106.1. Snow Fairy
It must be in front of the boss's room. The corridor ends, turning into a spacious hall. In that hall, a man and a woman were engaged in a battle.
One was a large, armored soldier, presumably a man. The other had azure skin, and her hair, extending to her waist, was a transparent crystal-like material that sparkled. Despite having a sharp and intelligent gaze, she had a mischievous smile, possessing the face of a cheeky and beautiful girl. She wore a garment resembling feathers, showcasing her well-shaped skin without reservation.
"You scoundrel!"
A man in a two-meter-tall, magic-emitting armored suit swung a massive axe. It was engulfed in flames, and the strike looked incredibly powerful. Sparks flew, and the wind of flames stirred as the axe swung repeatedly.
However, the blue monster effortlessly avoided the approaching axe, moving like a breeze through willow branches, and none of the strikes hit.
The impact of the axe created a massive explosion, shattering the icy floor. Amidst the glittering, magical ice fragments in the air, the blue-skinned, girl-shaped magical creature turned her mouth into a sly grin.
[Your attacks are light. Despite appearances, they prioritize speed, enabling consecutive strikes with the power to shatter the icy floor. Now, what could this mean?]
In a mocking and insolent tone, the girl-like monster conveyed her thoughts while grinning. It seemed she didn't have vocal cords; instead, she could transmit thoughts with her icy body. In response, the man, driven by anger, readied his axe and drew a gun from the holster with the other hand.
"So what, you monster!"
He pulled the trigger, unleashing rapid-fire shots. Bangs echoed continuously as the bullets attacked the magical creature, but the icy girl shielded herself with a gesture.
[Snow Powder]
Snowflakes gently formed around the monster. The bullets hit the snowflakes, altering their trajectories, and causing them to fly in unexpected directions, only piercing through the accumulating snow.
[Do you lack learning ability? I've told you before, bullets won't work on Frokis-chan. Regardless of their power, I can slightly alter all bullets by the mana-infused snow. Hehe, the minimum mana for the maximum effect. Isn't it a magic befitting Frokis-chan, the genius?]
"Shut up!"
Grimacing at the creature's words, the man concentrated mana into his axe.
[Heavy Strike]
A whirlwind of wind accompanied a rapid series of fiery axe strikes. The axe's afterimages lingered, transforming into a tornado of flames attacking the magical creature.
[Accelerator]
Muttering softly, the accelerated monster skillfully evaded the axe strikes. The fiery axe attacks ended up merely erasing the creature's afterimages.
[Heavier attacks than they appear. Is the true nature [Heavy Strike]? It's amplifying all attacks to several times their inherent power. I'd estimate Level 5 from the force. ]
"This guy!"
The man, flustered by having his skills turned against him, received a slight smile from the monster. While evading the axe attacks, the monster lightly tapped its fist on the axe.
"Grr!"
Despite its seemingly light strike, the axe gets slightly dented, and the man groaned, arching backward. With that alone, the flames disappeared, and the magical glow faded.
[However, there's a fatal weakness. While it multiplies your attacks, the damage received also gets amplified. It applies not only to the axe but also to your own body. Now, with all those vulnerabilities, you're finished.]
[Snow Bee]
Pointing her index finger, the monster thrust it to the man at an incredible speed. It lightly pierced the man's chest, causing the armor to freeze and crack.
"This..."
Those were the man's final words. He quickly tried to regain his posture and resume the attack, but his body rapidly froze. Cracks spread throughout, and he shattered into small ice fragments.
[It seems Frokis-chan's technique wasn't compatible with him.]
Crossing her arms, puffing her ample chest, and laughing, the monster introduced herself as Frokis, concluding the battle.
The scene concluded, and Shizuku and Konoha, watching from a distance, sighed.
"That enemy seems incredibly strong! Sh-should we run? It seems to be a formidable magical creature."
"Did you not hear its thoughts just now, Konoha-san?"
"Thoughts? What's that?"
Konoha asked with a slightly strained expression, but Shizuku shook her head. At that moment, Shizuku had a slight doubt. Apparently, Konoha couldn't receive the type of thoughts transmitted. It seemed to be a telepathy that only reached the intended recipient. Shizuku heard it probably because their wavelengths matched. It was like a kind of radio communication. It didn't matter; there was no need to worry about it.
"That fight was also a performance for us. It seemed like she noticed us and fought as if to show off or perform. Escaping is difficult."
I let out a deep sigh.
"But I don't intend to run. From here, let's split up. I'll give you the camera, so please defeat the Snow Slime alone."
She removed the camera attached to her chest and handed it to Konoha. It was beyond business hours, and I didn't plan on showcasing a battle.
"Am I going to defeat the Snow Slime alone?"
"If it's Konoha-san, it should be easy. If it's a juggling ball, a rapid-fire should easily take it down. If you can't defeat it, it's your time to die."
"You say horrifying things so casually!"
"Accelerate the bike to full throttle, and you'll reach the boss's room. Well then, do your best. If you defeat it, the contract is considered a success."
Dismounting from the bike, I stretched. Frokis still didn't show any signs of noticing us, but I understood that she was aware.
"Well then, please go ahead. It's one of those 'leave it to me and go ahead' situations, right?"
Konoha nodded with a stiff expression to Shizuku, who smiled casually and started the snow bike. Shizuku followed behind. Due to the aftermath of the battle, there was no accumulated snow around, and the icy floor was visible, but the snow bike ran smoothly.
Finally noticing the sound of the engine, the blue monster, Frokis, turned towards me and grinned.
