Chapter 311.2. Be Careful Of Traps

-Miu's POV-

"Um, this is camouflage, so they're not real gemstones."

"Does it have gemstones inside its body?"

"Special ability... the power of shapeshifting into anything. But it seems it can't replicate abilities."

"So, it's like a degraded doppelgänger. Still, the ability to transform into inanimate objects is impressive."

Freya's words prompted an appreciative nod. Mimic was tough, had magical resistance, and could change its size. It was more versatile than a doppelgänger.

-Mimic: Level 88, Magic Ice III, Dark III, High Critical Rate, Physical and Magic Resistance-

Freya's abilities as a Monster Tamer had significantly boosted its level. It had no weaknesses and possessed high attack power.

"Hmm... In that case, let's name it... Tyrfing-kun, shall we?"

"Tyrfing? Like the magic sword Tyrfing-kun?"

"Yes, it can transform into a sword, right?"

When I poked Tyrfing, it transformed into a longsword, as if it had chiseled ice. When I held it, it felt pleasantly cool, and a faint cold breeze emanated from the blade.

"I'm planning to give this to papa! He may not have trained despite awaken his mana, but with Tyrfing, he should at least have some self-defense, right?"

An excellent idea, I thought as I clicked my fingers. With a Mimic of this level by his side, he wouldn't lose to any common assassin.

"When it's in portable mode, it can transform into a ring or something like that. I'll present it to Grandpa Odin."

In response to Mi-chan's words, Tyrfing changed into a small, unremarkable iron ring. It seemed quite loyal.

"Tyrfing is a cursed magic sword, you know?"

"Yes, if it fulfills three wishes, Tyrfing will shatter."

"Then it'll be you who's in trouble..."

Freya and Frigg-oneesan gave me a skeptical look, but I was sure that magic sword Tyrfing had that particular feature. I think it would be fine if it housed a mimic instead of an earth spirit.

Before the duel with Kanna Dukedom, I would give it to papa. He probably wouldn't allow her to use magic since she was supposed to stay absolutely still.

"If only there were 3 more... I'd give them to mama, Sora, and Mai."

"Well, there are no more Mimics in this castle. Honestly, I rarely see Mimics."

Heimdall used his [Clairvoyance] to inform us, but halfway through, he seemed to realize something and turned his accusatory gaze toward Frigg-oneesan.

"Not that! We compromised on the Mimic, but the next alarm trap! You know, the one where the alarm rings if you touch the wall there. What did you do?"

"I touched it. I wanted to test if it would really set off an alarm."

With a nonchalant expression, Frigg-oneesan replied to Heimdall. She didn't seem to have any doubts about her actions.

"Thanks to you, we've infiltrated this far quietly, and now it's all noisy! The Living Mail units designed to repel intruders have all been activated simultaneously! What are we going to do?"

Once again, the clattering of metal sounds echoed from the depths of the corridor, and the individuals in full armor, or rather, the empty suits of Living Mail, came running.

Frigg-oneesan, with a seductive smile, playfully patted Heimdall's shoulder and calmly explained.

"It's a trap designed to attract enemies. We'll activate all of them, and take care of the swarming enemies. Especially the Living Mail is famous for dropping gemstones."

"Frigg-oneesan is right! Mii-chan agrees!"

Mii-chan raised her fist with a blooming smile.

Encountering a large number of monsters without going through the encounter process was a good deal. That's why we were activating all the alarms.

"But... is there any point in bringing me here? I'm likely to trigger most of the traps!"

"There might be instant death traps, you know."

"If there were traps that could kill us as Gods, I think the enemies who set them would come to kill us directly..."

Heimdall sighed disappointedly, his shoulders slumping. Well, traps were just that.

Even if you knew it was a Mimic, you'd still open the chest, and they'd ring every alarm they found.

"Do humans also notice the commotion in this Floating Castle and hurry to enter?"

"N-No, it's okay. The Transference Gate to the Floating Castle is protected by Heroic Spirits, with Ali-san at the center, wearing Nidhogg's robes. So no one can enter. Plus, we've let lots of chickens roam freely around here."

"Mii-chan can't fight, so please protect her!"

Heimdall sighed, and Freyja clenched her fists in front of her chest with a determined look.

Mii-chan was still not allowed to use magic, so she would be in charge of being Mii-chan the Karugamo duck breed. Quack quack.

"So, Heimdall, the deal is this: we're going to eliminate all the enemies here without hesitation."

With a godly-looking gun studded with stars pointed at the approaching Living Mail, Frigg-oneesan smiled and pulled the trigger.
