Chapter 79.3. The First Year at the Academy - Second Semester Field Exercise 2 (3)

Chapter 79.3. The First Year at the Academy - Second Semester Field Exercise 2 (3)

The problem is that these guys are halfway strong.

All of the dokol's offensive skills were forceful, one-shot affairs. It has four arms, but no ingenuity. Until now, it had been able to push through with its skills.

I parried its desperate [Claw Attack].

The weapon is not good either. Even though it is a spare, it's a familiar one-handed sword for me. The dokol's messy attacks can't get past my [One-handed Sword 7]. I ruled out a lightweight two-handed sword unsuitable for the exercise, but should I have forced myself to bring it?

Lambert's blow sunk the dokol on the other side.

It seems that they had a tough time. Felix, who had held his ground on the front line, suffered particularly heavy damage.

If Elphimia hadn't taken one of its arms, it might have been closer than I thought.

I should end this too.

The dokols over here were exhausted, even though they were not badly wounded. It was the same for Reese and Sickle, no one had attacked them for a while. We had long passed our limits.

After all, they didn't go down the line once.

If it had been just me, it would have been a bit more of an easy battle, but this time I had no choice.

I went along with everyone else, and I'll be happy.

"Who's going to finish---"

I look to the side and cut off his words.

Should I do it?

"All right. I'll do it."

I readied my sword and stepped forward.

I parried a claw from the top and slashed the throat from just below.

I ducked the fresh blood pouring down and turned my gaze to see the last of them fleeing.

I could have killed it with magic, but - let's use the sword until the end.

I held my sword horizontally and rushed to the side to cleave it horizontally.

It was at that moment.

Suddenly, the dokol fell over, and the side cleft cut through the air.

Quickly, I brought my sword back and caught the swinging claw.

Finally?

It must have been a desperately thought-out strategy. Dokol is so frustrated that even the monkey's face shows it.

Naturally, it didn't think beyond that. In the end, it reverted to a forceful attack.

I carefully caught it, and when it collapsed, it went to the side.

I swing down a "Heavy Strike" right at the bottom of the head.

Its upper left arm is decapitated, and the battle is over.

While I was wiping off the blood and checking for any spillage on the blade, Lambert walked up to me.

"Well done."

"Looks like it was a bit of a mess over there."

I had a bleed on his arms and cheeks.

However, the extent of the injuries was worse on Felix's side. Although his injuries were not life-threatening, Elphimia was helping him and applying [Light Heal]. From the look of him, it seems that he doesn't have enough magic power to spare for Lambert and Elliott.

I hand the healing potion to Lambert.

"Elphimia, keep your magic power."

I gave two potions to Elliot as well.

Elliot and Felix bow deeply. Elphimia nodded to me and began to heal using the potions as well.

"Sorry."

Thanking me, Lambert washed his wound with a potion.

"Just having four arms makes things a lot different. The frequency of attacks is not much different, but it's harder to aim at the torso because it's in the way. It was a good experience, thank you."

"No problem. It's your prey. Do what you want with it.

"But."

"It's all part of the deal. Including the dismantling."

Lambert bowed his head, too, "Let's find the magic stone!" I went back.

Then, let's dismantle this one, too.

I dragged the headless dokol and lined it up with the other one.

Meanwhile, the members of Reese's team remained seated.

They look tired, but I'll ask them to hang on a little longer.

Standing in front of Reese, I asked.

"Did you get a little exercise?"

"More than enough, I had a lot to say, but enough already. And I understand why Doris-sama has her eyes on you."

"I'll pass on that one."

I politely decline and move my gaze to a familiar presence.

Decindo was watching the game with his hand on his forehead.

"You again."

I blurted out and shook my head.

I wonder why. It's as if he's looking at a troublemaker. I've been out of the alert net for a bit, but I've had a good workout.

I don't know, but that's just fine. I'll ask him.

"Decindo-sensei, is dorkol fur a material?"

"Hmm - yes, we can use it to make leather armor. I hear it is difficult to handle because of the scales in it."

Difficult to handle, huh?

I'd like to practice tanning. It would cost a lot of money to hire a craftsman, and no skill goes to waste. If it's too much to ask, I'll sell it like I have been doing.

I turn to Reese's team.

"Then we will now dismantle the dokol."

I declared, but none of them stood up.

They looked up at me with tired eyes.

Hey, no one was hurt, right?

I checked with "Appraisal"  to be sure, but everyone's strength was full.

I see, you don't want to do it.

A noblewoman and a knight's son. I've gotten used to it.

Suddenly, I looked at Lambert's team.

The viscount and the son of the revived knight were struggling with knives in their hands.

It seems that they and I are special cases.

"Okay, I'll take care of the skin. You can at least search for the magic stone."

"Do I have to?"

"I don't care about Reese. It's a magic school. You two should do it."

Sickle was troubled but agreed, but Kim refused, saying, "I'd prefer not to do it if I can ......."

Is your father a wealthy knight? The magic stone is worth more than a gemstone. I guess the blonde hair isn't twisted enough.

"I won't force you. But dismantling is part of the lecture."

Gold looks at Decindo. Then his shoulders slump in silent affirmation.

After that, I guide the unfamiliar pair through the search for the magic stone, but unfortunately, we don't find it.

We take turns, and I get to work on the skins.

"Alter."

Lambert called me when I had finished.

As soon as I turn around, he shoots me something.

"Take it."

"A magic stone? This belongs to you guys."

"You promised me combat instruction, but not potions. It may not be enough, but it's the least I can do."

You're a loyal guy, aren't you?

The magic stone is dark red and small. The value is around five gold coins, about the same as an orc.

I was torn, but I took it in stride.

"Do you want the skin too? It's a bit tattered..."

"If you don't want it, I'll take it."

I returned the courtesy and peeled off his dokol as well.

Thus ended the battle with the dokol on the second day of the exercise.

We harvested one magic stone and three furs. The objective of the exercise had been achieved as requested by Rees.

It was a good enough result.
