Earth Dungeon 2.1

Chapter 2.1. Earth With Dungeon

Dungeons appear on Earth.

It's a template dungeon. Suddenly, monsters appear in dungeons that appear in various places, using inhuman powers and chanting magic.

The Earth, which came to coexist with such dungeons, acquired the power of unknown life, unknown technology, and skills born from the contamination of magical power caused by the appearance of dungeons.

So far, so good. No, not that good. The world became the age of adventurers, as companies bought the materials of monsters and goods obtained from treasure chests for large sums of money from adventurers. Isn't that kind of template?

The adventurers' age was born when companies paid large sums of money to buy monster materials. That's the whole point.

It didn't work out that way. The reality is harsh. Think about it. Companies buying up large quantities of monster material? Come on, all you need is 100 specimens, right? New materials? How many dead monsters are left over while the companies figure out how to use the new materials?

They don't keep buying them. That's why there were no adventurers. Of course. Even if they had the skills, who would risk their lives to dive into a dungeon without paying? Yes, no one would.

So what do you think would happen? Fortunately, the earth's weapons worked on the monsters. We could defeat them with guns and missiles. Easily.

But they show up every day. I'm sure it's because they don't dive into dungeons and regularly thin out monsters. If this only a few dungeons in the world, it would have been better. But dungeons were popping up all over the place. From dungeons with only weak monsters to dungeons with strong monsters.

The army fought every day. They used bullets like hot water and fired missiles with the same booming energy as fireworks.  In the face of an unprofitable dungeon disaster, resources are scarce, and taxes are high. Finally, humans abandon all but the most important towns. And when that happens, it's disastrous. The world is lawless zones, and even trade is impossible.

Everything has changed. When I was a child, I never expected such a time to come.

I look at the towering outer wall, that I can see from the penthouse. It is almost dusk. I see houses buried in the shadows of the towering exterior walls. I am sure that people are suffering from hunger under the shadow.

If I look closely, I can see a low wall outside the towering outer wall. In this country, housing depends on whether you can pay taxes or not.

The rich live inside the inner wall, a safe city protected by heavy weapons and where food is scarce. Those who can barely afford to pay taxes live in the outer wall, a city that is always get exposed to attacks by monsters, where food is always available. In the end, even if you can't pay your taxes, or even if you can pay them, it's not surprising that those who don't pay will become food for the monsters living in the ruins tomorrow.

One of those who live there is me, Amano Sakimori. I'm a man who is said to be a fool, who has hope in the name of the skill and trains himself in the dungeon day in and day out.

The dungeon gave various skills to people, even if those skills were beneficial or not. There were things like skill robbery and 100 times more experience in the past. No, there were. Some people took other people's unique skills and turned them into their own. If they took even one skill, their bodies become deformed, and they soon died. Other people's skills are poisonous. The stolen skill is also returned to its original owner, which is an unavoidable result.

As for me, I expect that unique skills are born from people's wishes. I think they're get tied to our souls. If you take away that kind of thing, you can see what happens. ......The result is disastrous.

I don't think 100 times or even 100 million times of experience multiplier was meaningless. This world isn't based on experience points. Some people were 100 times more skilled. This world doesn't have a proficiency system too.

To increase our power, we have to kill monsters. Then the enemy's magical power flows into us, and we'll become more powerful. If we kill monsters every day, our power will increase by about 4% in a year. It's not so different from muscle training. There was a guy who absorbed 100 times more experience, but that guy became a monster and got exterminated after defeating one demon.

Even if a single bullet can kill them. Those who can't give up their hope, or somewhat crazy, and stupid people would train their skills. Even though they didn't make any money, they continued to defeat monsters in the dungeon. In other words, it's me.

[Status Open]

I uttered the standard words, and a window with my status displayed appeared in the air. The translucent board looked futuristic and gave me hope, even if I didn't like it. I'm hoping that I can be a hero.

This status board is only available to about 1% of the population. More people want to see their power than you think.

The status board shows the result of killing demons in the dungeon since I can remember.

It looks like this.

Mana 100

Stamina 10

Strength 10

Dexterity 10

Magic 10

Unique Skill:

Equivalent Exchange Store Level 2

Remaining Equipment Level MAX

Skill:

Shadow Magic level 2

Water Magic level 2

Fire Magic level 2

[Heh heh. I'm strong, aren't I? I'm level 2, level 2]

This old man had spent more than 20 years from level 0 to level 2. It took a lot of hard work.

[Sakimori-san could you please stop talking to me all the time? I enjoy my sleep. Please don't talk to me unless you find something sweet. I wouldn't talk to you when I'm taking a long bath or holed up in the bathroom either.]

I can hear the cool girl's voice, man. I guess this is also because I've lived as a lonely wolf. I hear auditory hallucinations from time to time.
