Chapter 147.1. Bones

Once again, Seriton transformed into Black Skeleton. I feel malice in the naming, but since we won't encounter this enemy anywhere else, it's fine.

The defenders, from the rear, watch Shizuku and Yukihana. The two are alert, their fists held in front of their chests, half crouching and ready.

I have around 550 mana left. Whether to provide support or deliver a decisive blow, I must think before using magic. Glancing at the Dark Cat, it seems to have worked out well, as it moves away from Seriton.

"Mike!"

"Mya-"

Mike, who has recovered enough to move, emerges from the shadows, and I ride on his back. With Seriton's speed, I could get taken down in one blow.

In the center of Seriton's one-handed form, Serika, with eyes bulging white, veins visible even on her skin, pulses ominously. Her eyes, unfocused, move, fixing on us.

"So, Serika is the core after all."

"Yes... If we don't kill Serika-chan, defeating Seriton seems impossible."

"Then, let's coordinate closely as three."

The three nod in agreement, and Seriton readjusts its stance, opening its left hand and sweeping it across the ground. The metallic floor sparks as it approaches the two in the front line.

"I'll handle evasion. Miin miin. I can even use Kuzuryƫ 2."

Mimicking a cicada's cry, Shizuku calmly uses her combat skills.

[Parry]

Seriton's palm is two meters wide, like a looming wall compared to Shizuku's, but she bends her waist almost to the ground, sweeping her Mithril short sword from bottom to top.

The moment the tip of the sword touches Seriton's palm, the wall-like hand lifts, passing over Shizuku and the others.

Due to the change in trajectory, Seriton staggers, tilting its body.

It was thanks to Shizuku's dexterity, surpassing four digits. The parry would have failed if her dexterity hadn't been raised beforehand, but with her current status, she barely outmatches the enemy.

[Strong Sky Soar]

[Mass Magic Lance]

Taking advantage of the opening, Yukihana raises her fist toward the sky, striking the cracked area of Seriton's left arm. I also summon a crystal spear and aim for the same spot.

With a sound like air being released, the spear flies at high speed. Yukihana's fist, enveloped in crimson aura, hits, shattering the already heavily cracked left arm even further.

[Destruction]

In retaliation, Seriton sways ominous flames in the eye sockets of its skull, casting magic. Space trembles and the spear gets nullified. And both [Parry] and [Multi Body Up] are canceled. It seems [Destruction] is a formal magic, unlike the brute force of [Magic Dispel]. It consumes less mana and nullifies enemy magic and combat skills.

Unfortunately, it seems to be an elemental magic, so I probably won't be able to use it. It's useful. So I'd like to learn it. I wonder what element it is.

Watching the disintegration magic, I ponder, and Seriton opens its mouth again.

I sense mana concentration, but...

"Don't use [Accelerator]!"

I shout in discomfort, but it's too late. Shizuku seems to have anticipated it and didn't move, calmly holding her short sword, but Yukihana gets caught.

[Accelerator]

[Destruction]

"What!"

Yukihana, trying to dodge Seriton's magic with acceleration, is astonished and screams, losing speed due to disintegration. The acceleration speed didn't match her expectations, causing her to stumble.

Seriton thrusts out its broken arms, concentrating mana and casting magic.

[Gravity Scatter Shotgun]

Countless transparent, thin, ink-like scatter bullets are created, covering the surroundings and launching towards us.

[Shadow Move]

I immediately use teleportation to escape. However, Yukihana is completely off balance and will probably get hit by the attack. It was a feint by Seriton. Anticipating our evasion, it pretended to use area magic and cast disintegration. If the [Accelerator] gets nullified immediately after activation, the difference in speed the caster anticipates will cause them to lose balance.

Shizuku and I didn't notice any discomfort in mana sensing, but Yukihana didn't. As a result, she receives a counterattack.

Or so it should have been.

"It can't be helped. It seems the chest is still the cause."

[Multi Body Up]

[Accelerator]

[Parry]

With a sharp exhalation, Shizuku moves to shield Yukihana. Then, concentrating on her fighting spirit, she holds her short sword.

The high-gravity scatter bullets assault Shizuku, and she swings her short sword to intercept. She deflects each bullet, but she can't deflect all the high-speed ones, and they hit her body, tearing and gouging her flesh.

"Even attacks like rain, I should be able to defend against them now. Status values don't lie."

As if devoid of pain, Shizuku swings her short sword without slowing down despite the attacks, calmly muttering. Her eyes gleam with fierce determination.

[Storm Sword Dance]

Concentrating her fighting spirit on her short sword, Shizuku uses her combat skills. Activating the skill causes her arm to disappear, and the short sword swings like a storm.

When the scattered bullets enter, they make a sound as if they're being deflected and disappear.

"Are you using the Storm Array Sword in manual mode?"

"Exactly. Unlike its appearance, the original Storm Array Sword, which is just a bunch of random attacks with empty gaps, can't defend against enemy attacks, but with manual control, I can aim."

Shizuku sneers defiantly at Yukihana, who cries out in surprise despite the bleeding. It was also the moment she acquired the new power of manually controlling area attacks instead of automatic.

The scatter bullets can no longer pass through Shizuku's storm-like speed of interception, and they disappear one after another. Seeing this, Seriton stops firing scattered bullets and thrusts out its broken arms.

[Destruction]

[Bone Shock]

Although she can avoid the scattered bullets, it's a rough interception, and Seriton realizes that powerful strikes can't be stopped.
