Twilight Alchemist 34.2

Test

34.2. It's A Little Embarrassing To Be Expected Like That, Isn't It?

"Hey! Leafan! Craft! You guys look lively, haha!"

"Guild Master!?"

As they headed to the Production Guild in Gandarl, the hometown of the Border Viscount, we were immediately ushered into a back room for a meeting with the guild master.

However, the person who came to meet them was a man who had been the guild master in another city where I had been active as an adventurer for some reason.

Come to think of it, I don't know his name.

"Yeah! Thanks to you guys, I've also climbed up the ranks and become the guild master of this city!"

"That's amazing! The guild in Gandarl is treated as the district headquarters, right?"

"Yeah! Now I'm the Guild District Headquarters Chief! Hahaha!"

"I don't really get it, but congratulations."

"Yeah! And speaking of that pretty lady there, wasn't she Kyle-sama's personal knight?"

"I'm Persia Formalhaut. I was a member of the Royal Guard, but now I'm directly serving as Kyle-sama's guard, so I'm not a knight."

"Details don't matter! Beautiful and strong! That's what makes a lady knight! Hahaha!"

"I don't get it..."

Despite his words, Persia seemed embarrassed. Perhaps she's not used to being praised,?

Although the Guild Master's words can be considered praise is debatable.

(Leafan, I don't know the name of the guild master.)

(Is that so? Now that you mention it, there wasn't even an introduction. Grim-san is quite rough.)

Oh, so his name is Grim.

"Well then, let's proceed with the report and procedures!"

"He's a lively person, isn't he..."

"Craft, you're being exasperated."

"Craft-kun, why don't you call him by his name?"

It was a bit of a mess.

"So, as reported, did you present all the elixirs to the Border Viscount Veil Road?"

"Yes. I thought it was for the best."

"Yeah, I think that was a good decision. The effects are overwhelmingly significant. If you left any behind, it could have caused trouble."

When I reported on recent events including the dragon extermination, the atmosphere changed completely.

Guild Master Grim crossed his arms with a serious expression.

"Originally, there weren't many alchemists to begin with. Most of the few alchemists joined the Production Guild aren't particularly skilled."

He didn't say it outright. Skilled alchemists are taken away by nobles and countries.

Well, it's not like they'd have trouble finding work.

In my case, I didn't have the luxury of switching emblems or the circumstances to allow others to intervene, plus it's essentially a binding contract.

"Because of that, we have high expectations for you, Craft. Hahaha!"

"Well, I'll do my best."

It's genuinely heartening to be relied upon.

"Let's give you a special reward for this time. This one is for Leafan, and this one is for Craft."

When I peeked into the bag handed to me, there were 10 mithril coins inside.

For an ordinary person, it would be close to an annual income, but for me right now, it's about four months' worth of salary, so it's quite a fortune.

"Is it really okay to have this much?"

"Actually, it's rather little for you, Craft."

"Because you'll also receive rewards from the Adventurers Guild."

"That's a separate matter. This is simply an evaluation as a member of the Production Guild. You can even complain if you want."

"I'm more than grateful just to receive preferential treatment with materials. Thank you very much."

"It's a relief to hear you say that. When I become even more important, I'll give you something more spiritual. Hahaha!"

"I'll look forward to it."

Honestly, compared to when I was a poor adventurer, I'm receiving too much, and it's frightening.

It must be my stingy nature.

Besides, if I can owe a favor to the guild master, it's worth much more than money.

Since all the necessary discussions were over, I decided to broach the main topic.

"Old man. I know it's a lot to ask, but I want you to change a part of my contract."

"What is it?"

"I know this request is unreasonable, but if this doesn't go through, I'll have no choice but to break the contract, even if it means taking on enormous debt."

With determination, I earnestly pleaded with the Guild Master.
