Chapter 288.1. Unacceptable Defeat
As Gelzer dashed through the town towards where the Hill Giant was, he spat out words of hatred.
"Darn it, that brat, underestimating me...! I won't let this slide, I'll kill him for sure! —Hey, get out of the way!"
Even though he crushed one Ogre blocking his path with a skill attack in an instant, Gelzer's anger didn't subside at all.
No matter what, he wouldn't be satisfied until he made that brat crawl on the ground.
And he'd definitely ravage the two women he brought along.
It would feel so good to violate those women, crying and screaming in front of that brat, tied up and unable to move.
The dark pleasure and fantasies slightly satisfied Gelzer's heart.
Yes, that's what he should do.
He should make that brat who dared to disrespect him, the woman in black, and that punk all submit and conquer them.
Although that was just how he felt; in reality, he had to consider what to do next.
"Gelzer-san!"
"What happened to that brat!?"
At that moment, Gelzer ran into his party members coming from another direction.
Two male adventurers could be considered Gelzer's entourage, and one female archer adventurer.
"What's going on? That brat took away a near-death Hill Giant."
"Took it away? So you're saying that boy intercepted the opponent Gelzer was fighting?"
The female archer adventurer asked so.
Gelzer clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"No way that's true. That Hill Giant was on the verge of death from the start. Anyway, what's next? One Giant is gone, and you guys are too weak for me to cover everything."
"Uh, um..."
While the female adventurer tilted her head, she followed Gelzer as he ran through the town.
The other two also followed suit.
They soon arrived at a stone bridge spanning the river running through the town.
They were about to reach the target Hill Giant's location, but they didn't need to cross the bridge for that.
The target giant was on this side of the bank.
However, Gelzer remembered the plan he had made a little while ago.
"By the way, I was going to ridicule that woman in black. If we hesitate, we might not make it in time. Alright, you guys attack the Giant over there. I'll crush the Giant outside, where the woman in black is headed."
"Huh? Are the three of us going to take on the Giant alone?"
One of Gelzer's entourage expressed surprise.
Gelzer clicked his tongue again, showing his displeasure as he threatened.
"Don't tell me you can't do it, alright?"
"Uh, n-no..."
"Y-yeah, we got it! We'll handle that Giant with the three of us!"
The other entourage hurriedly patched up.
The female archer adventurer shrugged as if to say "Whatever".
Despite feeling annoyed by their attitude, Gelzer parted ways with his companions once again and dashed across the bridge.
"Darn it, useless guys."
Gelzer kicked aside an Ogre as he headed toward the town's exit.
As he left the town, he searched for the Hill Giant the woman in black had targeted.
From Gelzer's perspective outside the town, the Hill Giant was far off to the right.
Gelzer smirked and ran towards it.
But as the distance closed rapidly, he noticed something strange.
The Hill Giant he was heading towards was fighting someone.
That someone—a petite figure dressed in black—was darting around the Giant, seemingly toying with it.
They exploited the Giant's openings, swiftly attacked, and retreated after each strike.
Every time the Giant was attacked, it cried out in pain and anger.
"...!? No way...!?"
As Gelzer closed in a bit more, the situation became clear to him too.
It was the woman in black.
Facing the Hill Giant alone, she seemed to have the upper hand in the fight.
Incredibly agile, she effortlessly outmaneuvered the Giant, dodging most of its attacks with finesse.
And her attacks were not weak either.
Her swift, consecutive strikes with two short swords had inflicted considerable damage on the sturdy Giant, causing black mist to emanate from its wounds.
However, no matter how agile she was, there were limits.
While the woman in black had been skillfully evading the Giant's attacks, it wasn't perfect, and she eventually took a blow from a club.
