Chapter 351.2. Tokyo Reconstruction Plan

-Miu's Dad POV-

"Hmm... I understand what Miss Takano is thinking. To reject such an unreasonable proposal, the Emperor has to make concessions. To allow the city defense with private troops, police stations, and barracks will probably be constructed within reasonable limits."

"As expected of my granddaughter, she's thinking it through. I'll have to contact those concerned right away."

"Can't be helped. As Houretsu's close friend, I'll make a move too. Well, finding people looking for jobs won't be a problem."

"I was wondering why Aguni-san came here. Did you anticipate something like this?"

I ask, watching Father and Aguni start telepathic communication with apparent amusement. These two seem to have an uncanny sense of potentially lucrative opportunities.

"Huh? No, I came because I wanted to aim for the position of the next military general. I've come to seek assistance."

"Even in negotiations about how much military force to entrust to private troops, having the top military brass provides a sense of security."

Sighing at Aguni's nonchalant request for support, I can't help but be impressed.

Father seems fine with assisting behind the scenes.

I sigh at the thought of Mii-chan entering this kind of world. I must protect her without fail. I have a feeling that Mii-chan probably hasn't thought that far. There were even more absurd things not included in the documents.

Like she's suggesting all roads be replaced by railway tracks.

With a bright smile, she's saying it would prevent traffic jams and exhaust pollution.

It's excessive. Who would live in a city without roads? She probably hasn't thought about it at all.

Nevertheless, it will likely unfold as Father predicts. It's troubling.

"People will gather even if you don't intend to gather them. The beginning is crucial in city planning. This area is rich in magic stones, so it's necessary to prevent a deterioration in public safety."

Aguni says, reaching into the muddy ground to pick something up.

Even in the mud, the clear red shine is unmistakable.

Those are magic stones. They may be small, but they're likely worth thousands of yen.

"I've never heard of a land where money falls. And the nobles from various places will send people, seeking connections with Takano Queendom. Both commoners and the poor will keep coming."

"If you're lucky, you might find magic stones worth tens of thousands of yen lying around, and there are magic trees too. There's a chance to become rich now."

It's not an exaggeration to say that this land is literally filled with money. Processed magic wood surpasses reinforced concrete in strength and sells for a high price.

Such things are rolling around everywhere.

There aren't many people now since the snow has just started melting.

I'm expecting more will rush in soon.

"Come to think of it, Mii-chan was planning to build a tavern at every intersection..."

"Hahaha, bar and casino. She really understands how to make use of the money of those wealthy folks."

"I'm worried it might contribute to a bad environment for children's education. Well, she'll be living in the Imperial Capital until she graduates from university, so I want to develop the area as a peaceful one by then."

I don't want a city filled with rough people. However, to some extent, it's inevitable.

The key is to develop the city with trustworthy people.

"She'll attend the Magic Academy, so living in Tokyo is inevitable."

"I don't think there's a need to add any gloss, but it's still better to qualify for graduating from the Magic Academy. After all, it's about becoming a 'Queen'. Once you become a 'Queen', you can't afford to show any weaknesses."

"I'm not particularly interested in gloss or being a 'king.' I want Mii-chan to make lots of friends and enjoy her youth."

The two of them had opinions completely different from mine. Probably, if they were nobles, they would share the same opinion. But I want Mii-chan to lead a happy life.

"Your thoughts may be praised as virtues by the nobles, but do you know you'll get scorned behind your back?"

"I don't mind being scorned. Besides, Takano Queendom has become strong enough to bounce back from that kind of scorn. Right?"

"...Should I praise you for growing up? In the past, I would have argued back at that point. Well, I'll warn you that it's too naive."

"Well... I have more reliable subordinates now. I'm thinking of being a bit more confident."

I smiled wryly at my father's words and brushed them off. With many subordinates smarter than myself, things would work out somehow. I pledged to do my best for my daughter, using the nickname 'the magician who can't use magic'.

"That girl has the cunning to handle things herself, doesn't she?"

"Please stop using the word 'cunning'; she's just a clever girl, please."

"People often say 'parental love is blind', but how should I express it in this case? By the way, is it the Magic Academy for the 3rd year? I'm planning to send my son to the same academy."

"I'll ask her which academy she wants to go to next time."

Then, I suddenly remembered the conversation with Mii-chan. She said she would dedicate herself to the development of Tokyo. But she wouldn't skip attending the academy, would she?

I recalled her innocent smile, and my anxiety grew. There must be something when my daughter smiles innocently.

I might as well prepare the application just in case.
