Chapter 207. Entering the Dungeon
The dungeon raiding party had arrived at the entrance of the cave.
When they looked up, the sky was completely covered in dark clouds.
Despite being midday, the surroundings were dimly lit, creating an eerie atmosphere.
The rain, which had started as a drizzle, was gradually intensifying, and it seemed like it might turn into a downpour.
The 15 warriors who had come to conquer the dungeon, including me, Kazane-san, Yuzuki, Yusefia-san, and Bargamund-san, with Griffon, hurried into the cave to escape the rain.
As we walked along the cave with their armor, we eventually reached a fork in the path.
There was a stone monument with the same content that Yusefia-san had mentioned earlier in front of a wall.
Following the prearranged plan, the raiding party split into 2 groups.
On the right path, there were Kazane-san, Yuzuki, Yusefia, Griffon, and me.
On the left path, there were Bargamund-san and all the Dwarf warriors, totaling 11, including him.
In terms of numbers, the Dwarf warriors were more than twice as many as us.
But we seemed fairly even in combat capabilities, if not slightly in our favor.
Bargamond-san, representing the Dwarf warriors, spoke to us.
"Human heroes and Yusefia, please conquer the dungeon and meet us at the exit."
"Yes, Bargamund. You won't be dying in a place like this, will you? I haven't received that introduction letter yet, after all."
Bargamond-san chuckled and then gave the order to the Dwarf warriors.
"Let's go."
The 10 warriors responded and proceeded down the left path with Bargamond-san.
Yusefia-san, Kazane-san, Yuzuki, Griffon, and I continued down the right path.
Soon, we reached a small room where a teleportation magic circle glowed.
There should be a similar magic circle where Bargamond-san's group had headed.
"Now, who's going to draw the short straw?"
Yusefia-san muttered.
The short straw signified the Fire Dungeon as "losing", and the Ice Dungeon as "winning".
Our group had Yuzuki, and Barzamont's group had Bargamond-san, who excelled in fire magic.
Since our parties were expected to encounter more ice-themed monsters, there was no clear indication of which group would face the disadvantageous battle.
However, Bargamond-san primarily used his axe for combat and could wield the magic of both fire and earth attributes, while Yuzuki had her Fenrir Bow.
Regardless, they should be able to manage reasonably well.
After some time, our group reached a dead-end room and stepped onto the glowing magic circle together.
After a short wait, the magic circle's light intensified, and our surroundings filled with blinding white light.
When the light faded, we found ourselves in a new location.
"Ah, it seems like we drew the short straw."
Yuzuki said, looking around.
I did the same, feeling cautious.
We were in what appeared to be the interior of a cave, covered in reddish-brown rocky walls.
Unlike the gray stone walls in the previous cave, the color was noticeably different.
What stood out the most, though, was the heat.
Just standing there felt like being baked, and it was clear that staying too long would be unbearable.
We were standing in the middle of a vast chamber.
The chamber was even larger than a typical gymnasium, and the ceiling was high enough not to induce claustrophobia.
In one corner of the front wall, I saw an apparent passage that seemed like the way forward.
Apart from that, there were no other visible paths or noteworthy features.
Our group was intact, with Kazane-san, Yuzuki, Yusefia-san, Griffon, and I all being close by, just when we had used the teleportation magic circle.
It was unfolding as expected, but then.
"Wait! Daichi-kun, something's coming!"
Kazane-san shouted and in the next moment.
Numerous will-o'-the-wisps appeared all around the chamber.
