Loli Vtuber SS 6

Test

SS 6. [Becoming A Vtuber For 0 Yen ~ Preparations]

"Can I become a VTuber for 0 yen!? But when I looked it up on the internet... it costs hundreds of thousands of yen."

"It depends on how you do it and the conditions, you know~."

"R-Really?"

My excitement seeped into my voice upon hearing Maichan's words.

Could it be that there's such a method!?

"Anyway... after school today, I'll come to your place!"

"Okay!"

I nodded vigorously.

Wait, huh???

"Whaaat!? M-Mai-san is coming to my house!?"

***

"Excuse me~."

"Please come in."

I arrived at the house where I'm currently staying together with Mai-san.

Since evacuating to Japan, it's the first time I'm inviting someone to this house.

Honestly, I'm nervous.

As we were being led to my assigned room, Mai-san suddenly spoke up, seemingly belatedly.

"Come to think of it. This is your relative's house, right? I wonder if it was a bad idea to come here..."

"T-That's not true. Even though it's my relative's house..."

As I was about to explain, a hoarse voice interjected, "Oh my.", catching our attention.

The person looked at us with a wrinkled, gentle smile.

Is this what they call "Speak of the devil."?

I've become quite skilled at using Japanese idioms.

"Hello, I'm back."

"Yes, welcome home. Is this your friend? Nice to meet you. It was cold outside, wasn't it? Make yourself at home."

"Thank you. Sorry to intrude."

We were seen off, and we entered my room.

Mai-san immediately let out an understanding sound.

"I see. Your grandma is Japanese."

"Yeah, she's my great-grandma, but... I want you to call her that way."

"I see. She seems like a kind person."

".........Yes."

My great-grandma said we could stay here as long as we wanted.

Her sons have already moved out, and there are spare rooms, so she said it's fine.

We're really lucky.

Having someone in the family we can rely on, and such a nice person at that.

It makes me feel guilty about my friends whom I left behind in my hometown.

"Is something the matter?"

"N-No, it's nothing! Anyway, what should we do from now on?"

"Well, let's see... Can you show me your computer? You said you have one, right?"

"Yes. Here it is."

I said, showing her my laptop.

In an instant, Mai-san's expression turned serious.

"Wow, this is a computer... It's the one provided by the school, right?"

"Huh? Yes, it is, but..."

One of the things that surprised me when I came to Japan was the "GIGA School Plan" or something like that, where each student is provided with a tablet or a laptop, but they need to purchase it with the assistance of subsidies.

Also, having a Wi-Fi environment at home is necessary. They say it's for doing homework.

"This one runs on Chrome OS, right? It's not bad in itself, but there are software issues, and above all, the specs might not be enough."

"So, you're saying this computer won't work?"

"Yes, that's right. To make your VTuber debut, you'll need a new computer."

"?!?!?!"

I thought, "This doesn't make sense!" and confronted Mai about it.

"But Mai-san said you can become a VTuber for free!"

"Well, of course, whether you can debut for free depends on the method and conditions. But realistically, it's impossible for someone who doesn't have a smartphone or a computer to debut for free, right?"

"That's true."

"Besides, it depends on whether you already have headphones, a microphone, and other things. The prerequisites can be completely different for each person."

When Mai-san said that, I couldn't argue back.

Indeed, it's not as straightforward as being completely free if you already have everything you need from the start.

"There are ways to become a VTuber with just a smartphone, but considering your goals, that might be challenging too."

"But..."

I fell silent, and Mai smiled.

I couldn't resist and looked up at her smiling face.

"Surprisingly, there are many people out there who can debut as a VTuber for almost free!"

"Really?"

"Yes. The hurdle to becoming a VTuber is much lower than most people think! Anyway, leave it to me for now."

Mai-san said, winking.

Was it an illusion?

I rubbed my eyes.

It felt like a ☆ mark flew from her eyes, or was I imagining things?

***

One week later.

"Um, Mai-san? Wha-what's with this? A desktop computer is sitting here!"

In my room, a desktop computer had mysteriously appeared.

Mai-san smiled cheerfully.

"I got it for you!"

"You got it? Where did you get it from?"

"Well, you see..."

Mai-san calmly answered my obvious question with a nonchalant expression...
