Sure-Hit Archer 98

Test

Undead Hell Spider

I attach a transparent arrow created with [Magic Arrow] to my Dragob Tree Bow and stare down the Undead Hell Spider.

Now. How do I defeat the Undead Hell Spider?

Well, there are several ways to defeat undead monsters.

One is to crush their heads.

By destroying their brains, you can stop their movements.

But [Magic Arrow]'s size isn't enough for me to do that.

If it comes to that, I have no choice but to use [Divine Bolt], but I'd rather avoid being defenseless against the Undead Hell Spider while using it.

So, if I use it, I'll have to create an opportunity when I can use it.

The second way is to exploit the weaknesses of fire or light attribute undead monsters.

"...But it's impossible!"

I dodged the attack of the Undead Hell Spider, who attacked me while I thought about the opportunity I had in mind.

As you can see, the Undead Hell Spider attacks without hesitation, and I don't even have time to shoot my only light attribute attack, [Divine Bolt].

I can only use it when I create an opportunity.

So, these are the main ways to defeat undead monsters, but ultimately, the key is to create an opening.

"In that case, I guess I have to do it diligently! [Weakness Lock]!"

For now, I won't get anywhere without trying.

So, I immediately use [Weakness Lock] on the Undead Hell Spider while avoiding its yellow threads and sharp leg attacks to find any weaknesses other than its head.

With this, I should be able to see the weak point of the Undead Hell Spider.

"Huh?"

But something's wrong.

The weak point should appear red, but...

"Why can't I see it...? Could it be that it has no weak point?"

No, that can't be.

At the very least, as an undead monster, its head should be a weak point, so it's strange that I don't get any reaction from it...

"...Huh?"

Then, something catches my eye. Or rather, my gaze is automatically drawn to it.

"Oh no!!!"

Without missing such an opportunity, the thick leg of the Undead Hell Spider swings down toward my face.

However, I manage to barely dodge it.

"Phew... That was close..."

If I took a direct hit from that, I wouldn't survive.

Normally, I could have avoided it just like earlier.

"Why is it reacting to my Weakness Lock?!"

My gaze gets forcibly drawn to something. It was a crystal-like gem embedded in a tree-like pedestal that I had been wary of as a trap.

There didn't seem to be any particular mechanism in the pedestal. Furthermore, there was no specific reaction coming from it.

In other words, the crystal itself reacted to my Weakness Lock.

I used [Lock-On] to search for the weak points of the Undead Hell Spider.

So why did it react to that crystal?

"...Well, instead of thinking, I should take action first."

Muttering so, I avoid the attacks of the Undead Hell Spider while holding my Dragon Tree Bow, with the transparent arrow created by my [Magic Arrow].

And then, I try to shoot--

"Gishaaaaa!!!!!!!"

"Whoa?!"

The moment I tried to release it, the Undead Hell Spider let out a scream that felt like it could burst my eardrums, and its attacks became even more intense.

As expected, this was unexpected, so I stopped attacking and stepped back.

My recent action. Could it be that thing is its weak point after all...?

The Undead Hell Spider's movement changed when I aimed for that crystal.

In that case, it's likely a weak point.

"Well, if that's the case, it should be simple!"

Just aim for that crystal!

If that's all, it should be an easy win! Well, maybe not easy, but better than the current situation.

"Alright! Let's do this!"

I readied my Dragon Tree Bow again, attaching the [Magic Arrow], and as if responding to it, the Undead Hell Spider closes the distance, approaching me.

"...I see. It seems to be quite important to that creature. In that case, let's finish this quickly! [Lock-On]!"

Our distance gets shorter. The Undead Hell Spider's attacks become faster and sharper.

Every one of them is a single strike that could result in instant death if it connects.

However, I calmly assess and evade them using skills like [Prediction], and [Evasion].

The key is to counter the simple, wide-ranging attacks caused by the Undead's inherent lack of intelligence.

Considering that the [Magic Arrow] didn't work earlier, I plan to deliver the maximum blow with [Divine Bolt].

It may not necessarily defeat it but could blow it away and create distance, and if things go well, it might disrupt its posture.

Then, I used [Weakness Lock] to overwrite the guaranteed hit effect on that crystal with the Undead Hell Spider as the target.

So, this is how I continue to dodge attacks and pretend to lose my balance at the right moment.

"Gishaah!!!"

"There! [Divine Bolt]!!!"

It effortlessly raises its front legs and exposes its abdomen.

Now, I won't miss this chance, and aim and shoot!

"Goooooo!!!"

The unleashed [Divine Bolt] heads towards the Undead Hell Spider with the most powerful force yet.

It moves like lightning, transforming into a massive arrow of blinding light that pierces through the abdomen of the Undead Hell Spider.

"Gishaagaaa!!!"

However, before it can fully penetrate, the Undead Hell Spider is pushed back by the momentum of the [Divine Bolt], flying backward and slamming into the wall with its back.

"Now! [Lock-On]!"

Amidst the swirling dust from the impact against the wall, I use [Lock-On] on the crystal, the weak point of the Undead Hell Spider, overwriting its invulnerability effect with a sure-hit effect.

I will finish it off!

"Take this! [Magic Arrow]!!!"

And once again, I release [Magic Arrow].

The target, of course, is that crystal that the Undead Hell Spider desperately defends.

"Shaaah!!!"

I have enough distance, and the Undead Hell Spider, still trying to protect the crystal with an intensified voice, spews yellow threads to hinder and interfere with the arrow I shot.

But there's no wound where the [Divine Bolt] should have pierced through?

Regeneration? No, maybe it regenerated?

However, regardless of such interference or regeneration, it doesn't matter to the arrow made by [Magic Arrow].

"Go!!"

The arrow I shot passes through the incoming yellow threads and heads straight for the targeted crystal.

As the arrow flies and pierces the crystal, intense white light and wind gusts fill the surroundings. As if it made my body float.

Snap! With a high-pitched sound, it shatters into tiny pieces.
