Chapter 159.2. The Bell Rings On New Year's Eve

-???'s POV-

Nobunaga, the Crown Prince who controls multiple attributes, and his sister Sena, who can recover any injury, have been the pillars of support for Nagamasa throughout his life.

The ability to manipulate multiple attributes allows him to use various types of magic and creates powerful magic tools. It also enables the purification of the lands left behind by the first generation, turning them into fertile soil, and manipulating convenient artifacts that create abundant resources like mines.

The ability to use healing magic means she could keep death at bay.

Those with wealth and power desire recovery magic that can cure any illness or injury.

Nobunaga and Sena are admired by many, while Nagamasa, on the other hand, is seen as useless.

If he had been born into a lower noble family. His position would undoubtedly have been different. There is a high possibility that he would have been celebrated as a hero, possessing invincible armor and fists and defeating many monsters.

However, Nagamasa was a member of the Royal Family.

What people expect of Royal Family members isn't just the power to fight. By possessing multiple attributes, they get entrusted with the ability to manipulate many powerful magic tools they inherit from the first generation and conduct excellent politics.

His older brother Nobunaga is like his father Touya. He's skilled in using multiple attributes and has the perspective of a competent politician. He's the exemplar of the Royal Family.

His younger sister Sena has a rare ability to use recovery magic, displaying glimpses of her political abilities at such a young age. She's regarded with caution by his father.

Nagamasa, on the other hand, is unable to manipulate powerful magical tools and lacks any ability in politics. He's the only one with such a deficiency.

He's a mere stick that is only useful in combat. The whispers of the nobles in the court, mocking him, have tormented Nagamasa.

That is why Nagamasa desired a world where he could survive in combat alone. He longed for an era of chaos in which he could shine.

But, from the perspective of a third party, Nagamasa was not as scorned as he believed.

In this world, those who can defeat monsters are the most respected. Even in modern times, the threat of monsters continues to afflict people. Villages and towns get destroyed, and many people suddenly get attacked by monsters and can't see tomorrow.

That is why Nagamasa, with his invincible armor and destructive fists, was praised by many.

However, Nagamasa, who lived as a member of the Royal Family, was distorted. He dismissed 100 praises as flattery and questioned the usefulness of being powerful as a member of the Royal Family while being concerned about 10 whispers behind his back.

The pride of the Royal Family turned into twisted delusions and an overwhelming desire for approval. Nagamasa aimed to bring chaos to Japan and create a Warring States era.

It all began with the stubborn belief of a 15-year-old. Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, Nagamasa possessed the power to put his plans into action.

"Hey, hurry up and open it!"

He shouted arrogantly at the girl who opened the door, his breathing heavy, and then fell silent.

"Sorry, sorry. Th-this way, please."

The girl bowed her head, apologizing profusely. Witnessing the girl before him, Nagamasa couldn't help but catch his breath. She was that beautiful.

In the darkness, platinum blond hair cascaded down to the shoulders, shimmering and flowing like a precious metal. The girl's emerald eyes, though timidly lowered, were exquisitely beautiful, akin to gemstones.

Despite being young, the figure possessed a sensuous and abundant physique, perfectly balanced in a proportion often referred to as the golden ratio.

Emphasizing the attractive figure, she wore a form-fitting outfit resembling a leotard, adorned with silver and gold motifs. The armor, modestly worn to accentuate the chest, featured teardrop-shaped shoulder guards with geometric patterns at the center, while leg guards with wing-shaped designs were fitted on her legs.

Before him stood a girl resembling a goddess.

Unaware of her charm, she casually turned her body,  unfazed by the astonishment and attention from Nagamasa and others. With an undisturbed expression, she walked steadily toward the truck.

"May I ask you to tell me your destination?"

She inquired as if feigning casualness. Observing the girl's back, Nagamasa regained his clarity of mind as if awakening from a dream, and sneered as he followed behind.

"You already know, don't you? Our target is some old man named Takano-something. We're going to kill the strongest wind magician."

The guide should have explained. There was no need to ask. However, that wasn't the point. It seemed that the beautiful girl deliberately wanted to hear it.

"If we annihilate Takano County as it is now, it will cause incredible chaos. They sent a separate unit to kill the current head and her parents."

The first signal of Nagamasa's counterattack was the name of Takano Miu and her family, which would be the talk of the town whenever the nobles gathered.

They were accumulating an astonishing amount of wealth and influence. If they get wiped out, the remaining factions will scramble for their share of power, resulting in significant chaos.

With that explanation in mind, Nagamasa infiltrated the Imperial Capital.

"So, where is the guide? Dead, perhaps?"

It appeared that the guide had either been killed or captured.

There was no way a girl like her would be doing such a dirty job on New Year's Eve.

There was no reason for a girl like her, adorned in a shining silver mana-enveloped magical armor, to be waiting.

Genshin Nagamasa and his companions revealed their wariness and assumed a defensive stance.

Such accidents were fitting for someone like him, a hero, he thought with a deranged and twisted smile.

The girl slowly turned her gaze, meeting Nagamasa's eyes. Then, one by one, red eyes began to flicker in the surrounding darkness.
