Chapter 72. [Dialect For Cats]

It has been 10 days since the cat came to my house.

I have come to understand the cat's language more and more.

[I am a cat. I have no name yet] It was fortunate that I didn't bring such a thing.

But.

"N~maa, chu~chu~chu~chu. Cat-chan is so cute today, too~."

-Oh, you're so annoying! Don't touch me!-

Awkward! My mom's favorability was very low, even though she was supposed to be taking care, and feeding her so much. I can tell it's low.

-Hey, Iroha. What are you staring at? Hurry up and save me (atai)!-

I decided not to listen.

I don't know. I think the cat was cuter before I understood the language.

I think cat owners are often uncomfortable when they understand the language, aren't they?

A pet cat sees its master doing all kinds of things.

-Hey! Don't be shy!-

It's unclear whether the cat is saying this.

That's only the result of my ability to translate the cat's language unconsciously.

In fact, 'Bless you (Bless you)' has been translated as <<God bless you (Kami no go kago o)>> instead of <<Take care (Odaiji ni)>>, and 'Happy birthday to you~♪ (Happy birthday to you)' has been heard as <<Happy birthday~♪ (Otanjoubi omedetou)>> because it's too native.

Non-verbal communication, huh?

The signs were there. The gestures in the [3D Unveiling & Birthday Stream] were a case in point.

There are many non-written words, such as hand signs and sign language.

"Phew, thanks for breakfast."

I put away my breakfast dishes and stand up.

It's almost time to go to school. I need to get dressed.

-Iroha, where are you going? I'm going with you!-

She says silently and follows behind me.

Cats don't talk to each other by meowing.

They do so only when they're still kittens, and then it's mainly through body language and smell.

"Oh, hey, kitty! Aww, it got away again."

My mom's shoulders slumped. That's also body language.

Even if people see my mom for the first time, they can tell she's depressed without words.

That's what I mean when I say I understand cat language.

Except that it sounds like a language.

As for the meows, I only know about 5 patterns at most.

I learned from my research that cats have roughly that many patterns.

There are probably two main types of cat meows.

Cats with a strong instinctive element.

Cats with a strong acquired element.

I have heard many cat meows, especially those of cats on TV.

So I understand the former.

But the latter is different.

Cats don't have a systematic language as humans do.

Therefore, the meaning of each cat's meow is too different.

I guess that each cat has its dialect.

There are so many dialects. Especially domesticated cats, each household has its dialect.

And since they don't purr very often, it's difficult to collect the data.

Even with my abilities, it was difficult to analyze the data.

With a click, I opened the door to my room.

At that moment, the cat entered my room. The cat precedes me and takes up position on my change of clothes.

"Ah, come on! 'Get out of here'!"

-If you play with me, I'll move for you.-

-Huh............ I get it. 'Give me a snack'.-

Immediately, the cat ran toward the living room.

What a cash cow.

I can't distinguish the cat's meow.

However, the cat understands human words to a certain extent.

However, it does not memorize the words themselves.

They understand who said it when it was said, and in what way it was said.

These 3 things are the key to distinguishing the words.

I don't have ears or a tail like a cat.

My vocal cords are different. My sense of smell is heaven and earth.

My body language and "Speech" by smell are not perfect.

That's the reason why cats can understand language and communicate.

If this is what we call [Hearing], the cat hears about 200 words.

It understands at least 'Treats'.

In other words, for a domesticated cat raised by humans. Human language is its mother tongue.

That's true not only for cats but also for humans.

The mother tongue of a child raised by a wolf became wolf language.

The mother tongue of a child raised by a monkey becomes a monkey language.

Such cases do exist.

Perhaps it is an innate ability of animals.

Conversely, if they didn't teach them any language, they can't acquire any language.

In other words, if you don't learn a language, you can't learn a language.

"...... Well, I only give her treats after I get home from school."

I added it in a whisper and changed clothes, saying, "While I'm at it now."

Don't feel bad. Too much food is poison to the body.

Most animals have no concept of the past or future.

There is only the present.

For example, suppose there is one bait in front of you. Place another new bait there.

Humans can distinguish between "food that existed from the beginning" and "food that was placed later," but most animals cannot.

Three in the morning, and four in the evening were right.

It's strictly forbidden to overfeed our pets because they cannot divide their food into two portions and will eat too much.

It will pass.

"Past, present, and future? Speaking of which."

[Iroha! Hurry up, or you'll be late!]

"Oops. That's right. Yes!"

I hurriedly slung my bag over my shoulder and left the house.

I felt like I was just about to notice something, but it was already fizzling.

***

I realized this on the way to school.

"This sucks. I forgot my earphones."

But there was no time to go back and get them.

I have no choice but to go straight to school.

I'll spend today watching VTubers on Twitter.

Their teetee dialogue exists in the written word as well.

Is it because it's been a long time since I went to school without listening to a VTuber's stream?

Today, the sounds around me are unusually loud.

The sound of insects, the sound of the wind, and the onomatopoeia of the leaves are the sounds of false misalignment.

The language—the onomatopoeia pops into my head.

"... Noisy."

I felt a pain in the back of my brain.
