Chapter 93.2. Rumors Of The Takano Family
-Masatoshi's POV-
The name Zephyrus became famous because, in the original story, he kidnapped and sold off many of the druids who lived in Tokyo. Druids are hermits who live with nature. They lived in dangerous areas where monsters roamed, and people couldn't live. They were rare beings who could use a special magic called Plant Magic to make various medicines.
Moreover, they were people who weren't listed in family registers and didn't exist on paper. Therefore, even if kidnapped, people who did that couldn't get charged with crimes, and the druids were targeted by evil people because there were no such convenient candidates for slaves except them.
However, because they lived in a dangerous region, the druids were individually powerful, and they took advantage of the dangerous terrain where powerful monsters roamed to repel intruders. But Zephyrus, using the advantage of his flying magical armor, often struck from the sky, killing many druids and kidnapping their children.
His work became known not only in the underworld but also in the surface world. That is Zephyrus. He's the wind mercenary.
With Anemoi taken, perhaps the druids are destined to be hunted. In the novel, Zephyrus was a villainous man who was dirty with money, but in reality... Masatoshi remembers the coming of age party the other day and feels bad.
"No, but it's what Shin needs. It's a chance for that wild boy to become one of us."
Shin receives a request to carry luggage for the Adventurer's Guild and tries to carry it to the requested location. A wild druid-like girl attacks him. The content of the package was small druid children who had been put to sleep by a drug. The guild members who had been bribed by a slave organization were secretly trying to sell them off.
When Shin and his friends learn of this, they take action to protect the druids and engage in battle with Zephyrus, who was guarding the recipients. After they defeat them, the druid children get sent back to their homeland, and the wild-looking girl becomes a friend and a member of Shin's harem. A straightforward story, you might say.
But the children were those whose parents had been killed by Zephyrus. They were mobs who only had to say a few thanks to Shin, "Thank you for helping me, Onii-chan.".
An existence whose parents were killed and kidnapped just to say thank you to Shin.
"Masatoshi-san, is something wrong?"
Sena calls out to Masatoshi with a worried expression as he overthinks with a serious look. Her eyelashes flutter, and her moist eyes are adorable, coming to his chest.
"No, I was just wondering what would happen to those who robbed Anemoi."
"Hmmm, yes, that's true. I can't imagine, but can you think of anything, Masatoshi-san?"
The pale white girl with her forefinger on her cheek tilts her head a little and asks Masatoshi. Uhehe, giving a smile that he finds refreshing, Masatoshi thinks he must live up to her expectations.
It would be fine for Shin to be without one of the wild girls. She was making heat-resistant medicines, but she was a furry, fussy character who would ask what this was, eat for free without knowing there was any money, and take items from the store without permission.
Masatoshi didn't like the wild child, an unthinking fool. He decided he didn't like her. So he decided to speak my guess is that Shin would be fine without the wild girl, because of the protagonist's correction.
"Well... I don't know much about Takano's Anemoi, but I have heard that they can fly in the sky. If that is the case."
"Suppose?"
Somewhat proud of Sena, whose sparkling eyes shine innocently and who turns a curious face toward him, Masatoshi, like a detective, speaks while waving his trowel.
"Wouldn't it be better to do a test flight somewhere? And to make money while doing it..."
"Well, so what?"
As he leans forward, he becomes more proud of the heroine, who listens to Masatoshi's words and turns her chest away.
"How about Tokyo? That area is a designated danger zone. It's also a no-fly zone. Wouldn't it be possible to do a test flight there?"
"Then, what does it mean to make money?"
The voice becomes quiet, and Sena swoops and squints, waiting for the rest of the words, but Masatoshi doesn't notice and shakes her iron.
"How about a druid or something? It's well-known druids live in hiding in Tokyo. I hear those people are treated highly behind the scenes. If they strike hard from the sky, they can take them by surprise without being disturbed by monsters."
"...... I see. Druid. Excellent reasoning, Masatoshi-san. I will tell my father, and we will take care of it."
"No, no, not so much. It's a simple deduction."
Immediately, Sena looks thrilled, clapping her hands with an innocent smile, as if there was no expression on her face earlier.
"That's quite a pinpoint, isn't it..."
Smiling softly and muttering quietly, Sena's words did not reach Masatoshi. Sena praised Masatoshi with a soft smile even when she heard his reasoning, which was nothing but a random guess, and would get angry if others heard it.
