Chapter 9. First Party Action (2)

Led by Kodachi-san, we headed for the stairs leading down to the second floor.

We were told it would take less than an hour to reach the stairs.

The dungeon is so large that it would take a whole day to walk through the entire first level, but the stairs are surprisingly close by.

But before we could reach the stairs, we encountered a monster.

Or rather, Kodachi-san was the first to notice the presence of the enemy.

"......Rikusou-san, there is a sign of monsters from ahead. Two of them."

"Kobolds?"

"I don't know the types of monsters with [Presence Detection], but it's the first floor, so it should be. I can't take it by surprise. It's coming."

At the same time as the voice, two kobolds appeared from the end of the gently curving cave.

Both of them raised their daggers and rushed toward us.

Kodachi-san held one dagger in each hand and stooped low, ready to intercept them.

The cave passageway is wide enough for the two of us to fight side by side.

I also held up my spear and shield and waited for the Kobolds to come between us.

Earlier than I thought I was in the right place, Kodachi-san moved.

She kicked the ground and approached one of the kobolds with tremendous speed.

"───Haah!"

Her daggers on the left and right flashed.

In the blink of an eye, the kobold had been cut twice, turned into a black mist, and disappeared.

She is strong.

With just one move, she defeated one of the kobolds in no time.

Of course, I wasn't going to stand idly by and watch.

A little later than Kodachi-san, I stepped toward another kobold and thrust out my spear.

The attack hit the kobold in the chest, but unlike Kodachi-san, it was not a one-hit kill.

The kobold I had failed to kill leaped toward me.

The kobold thrusts its dagger at me, and I use my shield, which I just purchased, to repel it.

I struck the dog-faced monster, which had lost its balance, with another attack with my spear.

With that, the kobold disappeared.

Only the magic stone remained.

Kodachi-san picked up the magic stone of the kobold that she had killed, and I picked up the other one.

Then Kodachi-san smiled at me.

"Rikusou-san, you are very stable for your level. I'm not sure I could have done so well when I was at level three."

"Kodachi-san is the one who is so strong, right? You're good at using two daggers at the same time. I don't think I can imitate you now."

"Hehehe. This is because of the effect of the skill called [Dual Wield]. Once you master the skill, it's like your body is teaching you how to move."

I didn't know such a skill existed.

Also, the bashful Kodachi-san is very cute.

"The share of the magic stone should be 50-50. Whichever one picks it up, the total will be divided into two equal parts later."

I nodded in agreement with Kodachi-san's suggestion.

I don't want to get into a dispute over which of us beat the monster.

It is troublesome to have a party.

The solo player is easier to deal with because there is no need for any trouble.

So there was one battle, but other than that, there were no problems on the first floor.

Eventually, as Kodachi-san had said. We arrived in front of the stairs leading down to the second floor after less than an hour of walking.

The staircase shape was like a large rectangular hole in the ground before the dead end of the cave. And a stone staircase was built in the diagonally dug cave down from there.

After all this time, one wonders who created this dungeon.

It is too late for that since the very existence of a dungeon is a mass of wonders and supernatural phenomena.

Kodachi-san, who knows her way around, descends the stairs first, and I follow her down.

Now, it was time to go to the second floor.

It is a characteristic of dungeons that the monsters get stronger as you go down the floors.

Although I had a senpai seeker to reassure me, I had to tighten my grip and go on.
